    I have a friend that has a month old chick she is wanting to give away, it has crossed beak. Is that a big problem? What will the outcome of the bird be when it grows? I have 10- 7 week old chicks now, would it hurt to get this one to be with them? I only want them for eggs, not for meat...

    is a nesting box that is 12 high and 9-1/2 wide to small (4 boxes total)? I had intended on making them 12x12 but messed up on measurments!!! I have 2 RIR, 2 Brahams, 2 NJ Giants, 2 Wyandottes and 2 Astrolorps.

    I read somewhere that you should have 4 square foot of space per bird in the hen house.

    My chicks are 6 weeks old now and in the hen house. I have been keeping the heat lamp on for them 24/7. When is a good time to turn it off for good? I don't want them to over heat or get to cold either. I am in Indiana. The days are anywhere between 40 and 65 degrees the nights 30-50 degrees...

    thank you. We got the roost and nesting boxes in it today and started framing the tracker. I put the roost on one end and the nesting boxes on the other that way they have the entire middle to scratch around.

    I am thinking the chick in the first picture is the boy, the waddles are red and his "top not" is redder than the other chicken.

    the waddle is almost red. I am hoping 1 is a rooster. I have 10 chicks total, I need at least one boy ;-)
