It's not looking great for the little fella
He definitely has a wry neck, not sure how it happened in the space of a few hours like that..
..but he is a silkie cross, so maybe was more vunerable to being pecked on the head by the others, or something?
He will eat & drink a bit, but then his...
I've had to help one of mine slightly, it pipped upside down & got stuck zipping. Looks like it had been like it a while, the membrane was quite dried out (I'd been at the supermarket) It got out just fine with a minor adjustment from me.. it's now running around playing football with the other...
One of my 4 week old chicks, who was 100% fine last night at about 11pm cannot hold his head up this morning.
He seems completely normal apart from the fact he cannot raise his head.
He can turn it right round, so it's almost on back to front, but cannot lift it up.
He can stand, but it...
I had a silkie a bit like this, used a load of q-tips dipped in warm water & gently wiped off the goop before it dried too bad.
His eye, once cleaned up, sorted itself out after a couple of days & by a week old he was totally fluffy
Wow, what a whopper!
One of my bluebelles was like this, she was the last to come into lay, but when she did, she layed about 5 enourmous pale pinky/purple doubles a week for for about 3 months! Her eggs then went to normal size until she decided to moult heavily in the middle of winter! (poor...
Me!! And it's also my birthday on the 7th!!
I did have 10 buff, 6 black & 6 lavender orpingtons in the incubator.
I eventually locked down 5 black & 5 buff.
The incubator got turned off accidentally about halfway though, but the remaining 10 eggs were all still alive at lockdown, fingers...
Me!!
I have 7 buff orps (friends eggs) 3 lavender orps & 6 black orps (both shipped) although my incubator had the plug pulled accidentally overnight & got quite cool, so I may get nothing
Last night the incubator was on fine, cooking away & on day 8-9.
I checked this morning & to my horror it was switched off (lead was yanked out) & the eggs had got down to 24 degrees (75 fahrenheit)
It must have been off for a few hours to cool down that much
I'm so gutted as I'd just candled...
Hi rift, I had the same problem with some of my shipped eggs too.
2 from each of the batches did not manage to pip, but the others who made it to pip, all hatched really well.
Maybe it's a shipped egg thing?
Or... I didn't use an egg carton this time, which also may have added to the...
The leftover eggs are all the same cross of silkie to orpington bantam. Two more from the same cross hatched no probs on tuesday.
I feel awful for them, stuck in there, but I am loathed to do anything as I may do more harm than good:(
I have 3 eggs, 1 of which is still rocking a bit. The other two seem to have stopped moving today
They are 2 days over (3 days from when the others hatched) but have not even pipped yet.
What do you think I should do?
I noticed one of my laying hens was a little quiet yesterday, but today she is very lethargic and her eye lids look a little swollen.
She normally has big round eyes, but they are kind of half closed today.
I saw her have a little diahorrea, which was yellow & white.
She hasn't eaten anything...
I'm having the same dilemma, my remaining 5 have not pipped yet & two of them are deffo twitching.
Mine are a day behind your at the mo tho.
Maybe start another thread & ask some of the pro's breeders, mener? Sorry I can't be of more help xx
