We got our easter Eggers in the spring and they have been laying eggs for a while now but only their first couple were green, now they are pale white!! What happened??
Thank you! Our burning bush really doesn't have a whole lot of berries on it right now but they were persistent on eating something under that bush! I shooed them away twice!
LOL!! I thought the same thing! We called my mother in law, who is our neighbor, a few weeks ago to see if she snuck an egg in the nest as a joke but she didn't. We didn't see another egg for a whole week! She layed it two Sundays ago then layed another one on the next Sunday. We said she is a...
Your welcome. Sieven dust may not be the best for them but neither is a bug infestation that you can't get rid of so to each their own! Glad it helped though! After we used sieven dust just once the grain mites we had died and we haven't had to use it since now we just use DE as a preventative.
There ok to eat as long as they aren't cracked or anything. I would have eaten ours yesterday but it had a hole in it and I didn't want to take a chance with that. I wasn't expecting eggs till then also but we got one. It was so much healthier looking than the store bought ones!
That is another reason I was surprised to see an egg so early, we have a roo also but he has been with the hens since chicks. He has just recently started mating with them
I put golf balls in the nest boxes last night, so hopefully the pecking wont happen again. After we got the egg we thought maybe my mother inlaw next door put an egg in the nest box as a joke but she didn't!
My 9 chickens weren't supposed to lay till around the middle of August! Well we went give the chickens fresh water tonight and I saw something in the nest box, then I was so excited I screamed "there's an EGG in there!!" Well my husband thought I said there was a snake in there and he is...
Yes, we built a small 5Lx4Wx3tall A-frame chicken tractor. It cost about $60 to make and 3 hours to make. It sits on top of grass and they loved it! Every other day we would move it to another spot so there wouldn't be too much poop in there or the grass wouldn't die. But yeah, they need to be...
We have 4 New Hampshire reds, 2 barred Plymouth Rock (one is a roo), 2 RIR, 2 red sex link pullets and we also have three younger ones not pictured. One buff Orpington and two easter Eggers!
I have 10 chickens around 2 months old and 3 around a month and a half. And ours do that too! They just started going into the coop on their own with the older ones at night to roost but during the day they get picked on! Do you have a run to keep the older chickens in? We keep our older ones...
