    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, work has been keeping me busy. The good news is Ming-Ming has made a full recovery and is doing exceptionally well. In fact, he's doing a bit too well. Anyone in the family that is within range he now runs over to and is VERY insistent about preening...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

He's been drinking off and on all day, just not eating. We took him outside for a bit and the only thing he did was walk around the house to where they were and then just sat there. I'm quite sure he's missing/mourning her. a few times while walking around the house he sorta called out and then...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Thanks Miss Lydia, I'm also not too sure why they didn't go under the tree like they normally did. Ming-Ming I think is currently missing Nala. He's been to the door several times as if he's looking for her. I feel so bad for him. He's laying on the dog pillow like Nala used to now. He still...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Well here is the deal. As of this afternoon, we lost Nala due to heat and being out in the direct sun. Ming-Ming was also VERY near death and was just laying there next to Nala. I knew something wasn't right when I went outside today to check on them and neither of them started to "peep" and...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Nala, the smaller of the two decided that s/he was going to make his or herself at home tonight. Followed my wife into the house and after exploring the kitchen and living room, decided that our German Shepard's bed was the perfect place to take a nap.

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

How did you become a wildlife rehaber? This would definitely be right up our alley! There are sooo many Canadian geese here and we are always spotting babies walking about without parents. Especially being less then a mile from a lake. I pretty much assume that the locals that find the babies...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

I just read the Federal Migratory Bird Act and according to it, I cannot possess these birds. So, it's with a saddened heart that I'm forced to call my local DNR office and see what they want done with them. I can't afford a $5000+ fine. Though for the record, I truly feel that this is just...

It's hard not to when they actually seek you out and immediately want to cuddle and preen <3

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Well as we had thought, and as you have stated, the ducks are not happy about the gosslings. However, we are beyond impressed with the gosslings behavior. We figured with them being wild, they would be afraid of us. Just the opposite though. They seek us out to cuddle and make the cutest...

    Found 2 baby Canadian geese

Greetings, I'm the proud parent of several ducks and while out walking today, I came across 2 abandoned Canadian Geese walking in between our local railroad tracks.. Both goslings appear to be in great health and don't appear to have any defects. However there was no parents anywhere in site...

    Strange Poo and Angel Wing

Hey everyone, just a fast question I have for you. We put Echo and Fluffy out to free range and they been on their own now for a few days. However, last night I brought them inside for a nice bath and noticed their poo has completely changed. Instead of the normal Whitish poo, it is now tar...

Lewie may have lost his mind.....

Interesting....Maybe he's just "EXTRA" happy then, LOL....I have no clue.

Lewie may have lost his mind.....

Lewie has been doing some rather interesting things today and I can't figure out if he's playing or what his deal is. For example, we were all gathered around in the kitchen/dinning room playing and talking. Suddenly Lewie decided to stretch his neck straight up and quack as if he were surprised...

    New Arrival!!!

Well we have decided the name shall remain Echo. Echo had a wonderful night with everyone and didn't spend any time in the brooder except for when it was bed time. Once put back in the brooder, he/she cuddled up to it's bear and immediately passed out and stayed quiet all night. That is until...

    Show off your house ducks!

Here is a question for everyone with house ducks. What do you feed them? I'm just curious to see what kind of variety there is out there. Lewie loves hard cat food, but he also is fed salads, crumble on occasions, bugs and grass from when he's outside foraging. Does anyone else allow their...

    What age for bath time?

+1 I also bath from day 1 and have never had an issue. Just keep a constant eye on your babies because even though they can swim, they aren't water proof yet and they can topple over. 5-10 minute at first, you can tell when they are getting tired. Then pat them dry and smother in love.

    New Arrival!!!

We do actually. We gave "it" a tiny little stuffed bear. But at the same time, it can't be lonely because my wife hasn't put him down for more then 10 mins since we got him, lol. I'm only saying "it" for now because we've not decided 100% on a name yet. Currently the top choice is Echo. We are...

    New Arrival!!!

Well we just got home with our brand new baby, a 2 week old Rouen. We were originally going to get a Blue Swede, but the wife decided that she liked this baby more. I'll be going out either Wed. or sometime next week to pick out 1 more baby to add to our family. I'll post pics in about an hour...

    Introducing new ducklings

I was actually thinking about that very same issue. I don't really want to add a drake because I'm worried about a dominance issue. The problem is, the new ducklings are store bought and I have no way of getting them sexed when we get them. I guess I'll just have to hope for the best.

    Introducing new ducklings

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on them and hopefully this will be a good thing. I'm still nervous about this, but I think that if anything, this would be good to get Lewie re-acquainted with his own kind and hopefully make him a little happier :)
