Yesterday, by my calculations, should have been hatch day. I needed to move mother to a safer place and waited too long. My husband thought it would be best to wait until they hatched to move mother and keets but I was too impatient and saw an opportunity today to move them before hatching to...
Hello, I have just gotten a peahen about 4 years old. I may want to incubate some eggs, as soon as she settles down enough to lay, but am worried that she should be wormed. Can worming wait a few weeks for me to collect some eggs or do I need to forgo that this year and just worm them all at...
Thanks for the help. I will not open, unplugged the turner and will add water with a straw. Fingers crossed, my husband was so kind to surprise me with a broody box he just built and I really want to use it! lol
So before I rec'd your answer about lock down today, I had to leave and am just getting back to eggs now to find 1 starting to hatch. Temp is 99.5 and humidity is 61%. Should I open lid quickly, add more water and sponge or don't open at all? So frustrated that I didn't have time to do the...
I am incubating Guinea Keets. Here is the breakdown:
Day 25 (temp this morning was 102!)
7 Eggs: 5 look to have internal peeps (based on pics I have seen, I have no experience - 1st time incubation)
1 - has crack (not peep, crack in straight line) with movement of chick inside
1 - has crack...
Hello, I am a newbie at incubating. I am on day 23 for 7 guinea eggs and I think I have a problem.
Checked on incubator and humidity was down to 10% and temp was 101! I added water and candled a few hours later when humidity was back up to 41 % and temp 99. So the air cells look way bigger...
For the moment my hens are using the nest boxes on the floor, they do have curtains in front of them. I haven't noticed more broodiness since the curtains but they do like them. Then, all of the sudden they will all change to the outside nest boxes that are built higher up. No rime or reason...
I have 2 guineas that have gone broody on the same nest. They are both just over a year old so this is their 1st time going broody. One started to be serious about brooding and the other one would still sit with her and lay her egg. Now the 2nd one is broody also. I am wondering what will...
Ok, just ordered the 1602n. Now will get the meter and keep fingers crossed till the new one comes. This may be a futile attempt anyway, I have never seen the guinea guys ever catch the girls, lol, just alot of chasing.
Ok gotcha. What if I got the new meter and in the mean time ordered a new incubator, tested it for a day then transfered the eggs to it? I feel like I may never trust this incubator. Especially since you have such different incubation humidity #'s than the directions say :(
what humidity would you be at?
is humidity different for guinea vs. chicken?
what humidity would you be at for hatching?
Thank you for your time. I am going to see about getting another guage to use.
I do the Farm Innovators incubator from Tractor Supply! The instructions say the humidity should be 50% - 60% during the incubation period. I have the incubator in my finished basement. It is humid in here, I have a de-humidifier in the basement reading 80% (in another room from the incubator...
Hello, I am on day 3 of my 1st incubation. I can't seem to get the humidity up above 45% (guinea eggs). Is this a major issue or is it close enough to the reccomended 50% the manufacturer recommends?
