Yesterday I took my last 3 chickens and 1 guinea to a lady in another town. Some people bought my peafowl yesterday and came today and got my geese. I had a bobcat problem. That seemed to settle down. That left a vacuum that was filled by a bunch of raccoons. I couldn't stand to see another bird...
My peacock is named Pavel after Pavel Kubina, a hockey player. The peahens are Penelope and Pocahontas. How can you name a p-fowl anything but a P-name?
I've had 4 Buff Embden geese for a couple years, 3 boys and 1 girl. They are very friendly and love to take bread from my hand.
A few weeks ago I bought 2 Africans and another Embden goslings at the feed store. I had them in a cage off the ground. Immediately one of the males started standing...
I have no idea. We're in an area where just about anything can show up. Like the stinkin' bobcat that's decimating my ducks and other birds right now. The peafowl are safe, they're in an enclosed pen. We had a peacock spend the night a few years back before I had birds. A lady that works for the...
I let her get used to being around here in a pen about 20 feet from the pair. Put her in with them this morning. No fighting no tension, just got along like they'd known each other all their lives. Pavel (the peacock) was showing off for both of them all day.
I have a pair of black shouldered peafowl. An India blue peahen showed up at my house Saturday. I caught her this morning. Will they fight if I put her in with the pair?
I don't but my wife does. For my birthday last month she made me a chicken quilt. It's a wall hanging with actual pictures of a lot of my birds, our dogs and our cat. I'll try to get some pics and post them. We went to a quilt show this past weekend.
As you can see behind her the plywood doesn't quite reach the ground, I assume she crawled under there.
Possible she was dumped, or could have been out for a while. It's pretty much a jungle around my place. Lots of trees, few people.
Yes, I'm in Florida. Just South of Tampa.
She seems very healthy, her tail complete all the way to the end and she is fat and has no scars. She was either a pet or very lucky in the wild. She was a little listless because of being cold so she's inside now with a heater and food and water...
Saturday afternoon I found this strange visitor in the peacock pen.
She's about 3 feet long and beautiful. Very friendly, don't know if that's from being a little cold or from being handled before.
I have 4 Embden geese. Three males and one female. All were raised together from birth. I've had them for over a year. Always stayed together as a foursome without fail. A couple weeks ago they started being a threesome and a loner. Now it is like that all the time. He is not allowed to be...
