She did that broody thing with a couple of eggs in the spring too. But she would come out on occasion then to eat and poop. This time she didn't come out at all for 3 days. I hand fed her and then just said enough and pulled her out and put her in the grass. She started clucking like they...
I really don't want a slew of new babies going into winter. Just like having only a couple chickens and if she can be ok I would wait until spring to get eggs or new buddies. With just one chicken or two they come in and sleep in a dog crate in the kitchen. Spoiled I know.
I've had 2 hens for a year now. They were pets really but the eggs are nice too. I lost one...she just died for no reason I could tell. Now I have 1 hen. She comes in the house and visits, chases the cats and dogs and is pretty fiesty. She's a 4 yr. old buff orp. I've had since she was a...
I use Purina for my chickens although I like Blue Seal for my goats. I think the chicken I use is Flock Master but I transfer to a barrel and don't have the bag so am not positive. They prefer it to our local mill's feed as well as the Blue Seal.
I guess that's why I thought it must be a lavendar because it wasn't black and no one ever says you get a blue out of it. Now the question is who's lavendar split was it?
I remember watching it hatch and being so excited it wasn't black. Sure wish I had banded them when they hatched.
Well now I'm going to have to rethink spring eggs. I had purchased another dz. of mixed orpingtons from someone else which was suppose to have lav. as well as buff and BBS but the lav's were scrambled when they got here so I threw them all out because the carton was really smelly, but it seems...
Well I love them both and my rooster is BEAUTIFUL. I think he looks like yours TOH. He follows me around the yard and has the best crow for a 4 month old. 1/2 came from you and 1/2 came from Miss Prissy. I got a great hatch and these were what I kept. I didn't want to be overrun just yet...
I got a bunch of eggs this spring. One was a lavendar but the rest were BBS. The lavendar hatched but I didn't band it and now I can't tell it from one of the blue hens that hatched at the same time. The only difference is that one of the two hens that both look like they could be the...
We have about 9 roosters from hatchs in April/May to give away. These are from Miss Prissy's and Tuff Old hen's lines. Many are splash and a couple are blue and one black. All are nice, just too many. Just outside of Charlottesville area.
Also have a couple of Jersey Giant roosters from...
We did this last year and it was fine. A plus was they got so friendly being carried in and out . On rainy wet days we let them stay in all day too. They actually got so they would wait at the gate to the walk out basement yard and walk in for us through a kennel area to their room. We...
I'm building a hoop house and wondering if there is a reason all the ones I see have the cattle panels attached to the wood base on the outside rather than the inside? Is it just easier or is there a reason to do it that way? I think it would be sturdier done on the inside and look better...
11 mostly blue chicks..one is splash and a couple are black from the looks of it. Unsexed.
$5 ea. I paid much more for the eggs but am looking at needing to downsize.
Pm me if interested.
He is handsome and I would love to show him but time doesn't allow. Too much to do as usual.
They are a cross between the Nigerian Dwarf and an Alpine so about somewhere in the middle for size. They milk about 1/2 to 2/3 as much as the full sized does. They are great for small land...
I have 3 very well bred mini Alpines for sale. 1 doeling and 2 bucklings. The mother is a ADGA registered French Alpine and has been shown and the father is a AGS registered ND so these guys can be registered with TMGR if you desired to do so.
I am asking $125 for the doeling and $75 for the...
That's just what goats milk ice cream does. I sometimes save cream I've separated for it or buy cream to add. If I don't want to do either of those it's ice milk and I put it in the blender for a minute or so with a little bit more milk and it's back to what it was when I took it out of the...
