I'll give it a go tomorrow. There's a few others in the group I wasn't able to get good pictures of today. They were a bit unsettled because I shifted everyone around to make room for some recently hatched chicks.
Getting good pictures of these two chicks is like trying to capture a lightning strike in slow motion; possible, but not with my equipment (cellphone), lol.
I got these two in a SR batch of assorted bantams at TSC. They are currently 9 weeks old. I know one is a male, that's been obvious since...
This is my 8 week Blue Jersey Giant. If I remember correctly they are slow to mature, so the red, but still small wattles has me leaning male. The comb isn't red though so I'm wondering what others think.
I don't know if that information is correct, it's just what I was told.

In retrospect I should've waited to move them after dark, but the chicks are hard to see in the grass in daylight, so I didn't want to take any chances and not be able to find them.
I'll move the incubator chicks out tomorrow evening when I have time to watch and observe Sweety's behavior...
What I'm hearing is I need to get a goose.:hmm
I'm still figuring out chickens, lol. A friend keeps telling me I need ducks . . . I'm not sure of his reasoning, but he almost had me convinced until I smelled his duckinglings in the brooder . . .holy moly . . .they stink. I brood my chicks...
I needed a chick break after all the heavy lifting. The 8 and 9 week olds are experiencing a bit of middle child syndrome, so I spent some time with them in the new run.
Fresh sand, soil and pelleted bedding has been laid in the newly dubbed 'broody run'. To say this run has been neglected while I was incubating and playing chicks would be an understatement, but now it's back to being clean and refreshed for the new babies.
The boys are horrible. I had other chickens peck at me but never grab and bite. When I got the reds I got a straight run batch, 10 males 6 pullets. One latched onto my finger and wouldn't let go. I had to smack him to get him to turn loose. I was not sad to see them go, and I'm pretty sure they...
