Thanks for that, I'm worried about the warning on the sugar cane mulch bale that says "do not inhale"and warns of microbial spores etc.
The paper towels are getting expensive so I might just go and get some clean fine hay instead.
I was wanting to lay something in the base of the brooder but can't find pine shavings locally. Is sugar cane mulch OK or what is the norm please?

My faverole hatched with a bulging eye and a week old now, it's eating, drinking normally and walking around but the eye is bulging just a little more with no discharge.
Any ideas please? Can I fix this?

This is my first hatch, first time ever having chickens and my one Australaup baby my son already adores is not thriving. Sleeping most of the time and not taking food, am giving water with a dropper on occasion (I work during the day). The rest seem OK except for a Faverole with one bulging...
