    Small quantity of Valbazen

I haven't asked my vet, but that's not a bad idea. Thanks for your reply! A few years ago I was able to get albendazole in a small bottle, but it doesn't look like that's available any longer. Very frustrating.

VERY irregular egg-laying: small eggs, no eggs, soft shells - all in the same chicken

She has had sour crop and leg mites. She's by far my most unhealthy hen, overall! Poor girl. I treated the sour crop with an antifungal; it cleared up and hasn't come back. I treated the leg mites with vaseline, and the mites seem to have gone away too. Her legs look much better now.

VERY irregular egg-laying: small eggs, no eggs, soft shells - all in the same chicken

I'm looking for insight into the egg-laying behavior of one of my hens - a two-year-old RIR. She has gone several weeks without...

Would love help IDing the sex of these two chickens!

Thanks for the advice, callahanfarmgirl. But, unfortunately, my bantam is certainly a cockerel - he crowed right in front of me this morning. Thankfully my friend was willing to take him back. :)

Oh, drats! Really? Not even a small chance that the bantam is a pullet?

Would love help IDing the sex of these two chickens!

Both of these guys/gals were born near the beginning of April, so they're about 12 weeks old now. I received them from my friend who has a variety of breeds, and there's no way to tell who their parents are! The light brown one is a bantam variety, but I'm not at all sure what the heritage of...

    Reasonable expectations for chicken affection

Two days ago I got my first chickens, and I'm so excited! While I don't envision them becoming pets in a strict sense, I do want to be able to easily handle them and get them back in the coop if need be. Right now they seem terrified (which doesn't seem unreasonable; they are in a strange new...
