Reasonable expectations for chicken affection

Two days ago I got my first chickens, and I'm so excited! While I don't envision them becoming pets in a strict sense, I do want to be able to easily handle them and get them back in the coop if need be. Right now they seem terrified (which doesn't seem unreasonable; they are in a strange new place with strange new people) but, well, I want them to like me! Or at least not be scared.

Should I begin holding them, or provide treats maybe? What's the best way to go about this process? Thanks!!!

At this point in the game, catching and holding will probably just trigger their 'flight' behavior. Sit in the coop or run with them very quietly. Food is a great motivator.
