    Finding cracked eggs :(

    Three of my hens stated laying last week and I'm not sure why either (I've been giving them oyster shells for a month now and the eggs they are laying aren't soft) but some of the eggs I'm getting are cracked on the top/bottom... not like a peck-hole but more like an impact crack as it was laid...

    (S)He's a bit bigger than the other EE's... definitely the leader of the flock. I bought her at a feed store and they said that all their chicks are sexed as female from the hatchery but "they make no guarantees". What do you guys think? When do males start crowing? I hope for (her)his sake...

    I heard you should have four square feet for each chicken... you have 64 square feet with your 8x8 coop... which means you can house 16 chickens. But that's just what I heard...
