Until recently my hens had been laying 8-9 eggs a day. I have 12 hens, 4 of them are four years old, the other eight are 2 years old. This past week they dropped to 3 eggs, then 2, now I'm down to only 1 egg a day. I live in the south, so it is very hot right now, temps around 90-100, and very...
A few of my chickens have gotten pale combs. Their going through a molt right now, so I was wondering if that is the cause or if their is something else wrong. I recently put chickens from my smaller chicken pen, and put them in with the other chickens in the larger pen. Could they be sick? Or...
I just picked up some oyster shell, fingers crossed. The older chickens appear to be going through a stress molt. They have feathers everywhere. The younger ones don't seem to be molting though.
I have 12 hens and 2 roosters, 5 hens and 1 rooster are in one pen. Of those 6 chickens, ones a Dominique Rooster, two Dominique hens, and 3 RIR hens. They are 3 years old. The rest of the chickens (7 Dominique hens, and one Dominique Rooster) are in another pen. Those are only a year old. The...
I'll start checking around for some BOSS around here, there's a person at my local feed store that might be able to order me some. I appreciate ya'lls help

The fodder that I have given them is a 50/50 combination of barley, and field peas. Should I drop the field peas or add a different grain, in addition to giving them layer feed?
I had made a mistake and fed them only fodder, but I'm switching them back to mainly feed with fodder as a supplement, Haven't noticed any respiratory problems, and as far as I know their feed isn't moldy. I didn't realize that the fodder didn't have all the nutrients they needed.
I haven't gotten an egg in quite a while, but I've had quite a few problems, they had a bad bout with mites, they refused to drink their water, and several died from dehydration (their back to drinking their water now, not sure why they wouldn't drink it), and now they've started to molt, so I...
