Root Rot in Fodder

Discussion in 'Feeding & Watering Your Flock' started by chickenman111, Sep 24, 2014.

  1. The past few days my fodder has been plagued with root rot, and bluish green mold. What are some preventative measures I can take to prevent this?

  2. As you progress in chicken keeping you will eventually find out as I did that chickens are not ungulates (or cows) and that they do not benefit from composted feed, aka silage.

  3. any way to prevent it from rotting?

    More rinsing and complete draining.

I don't let it get tall enough for it to be a problem.

  5. ok, i'll get to work on that. I appreciate your help :)
