The story of "Flown the Coop":
Hello! My name is Jennie Jean, my friends and family call me Jenn. I grew up on a small farm in South East Washington where I learned that hard work and kindness to animals was a way of life. If you had the chance to ask my Dad what he raised on his farm he would...
Thanks so much for all your comments... I've laughed out loud at all of them. Echo (the black and white Aussie) was truly confused there in the last few frames. She was also VERY concerned, you couldn't hear it in the video but she was whinning like "hey Mom, this one needs help"...
I captured Fancy on video this morning. He isn't any better at crowing this morning then he was the very first morning he attempted... I'm still just busting a gutt ROFLMAO every morning!

I love fireworks... but I don't like what they do to my animals. My dogs where barking ALL night when ever one would go off close enough for them to hear over the fan and back ground noise I set up for them. The ponies where restless and I didn't even think about what kind of anxiety it was...
I saw an egg this big in another post here at BYC... They video taped cracking it open and there was a WHOLE other egg, shell and all inside. I think the title of the post was 'egg in an egg' or something like that and I can't remember what topic it was posted in... I'll double check my previous...

Thank you!! I've been so worried. He has been growing so fast and looks like he is gonna be a beautiful rooster, so I was worried about that wing filling out.
How long does it take for wing feathers to molt out and new ones grow in? I'm curious if my little roo, Fancy, will ever recover from having all his wing feathers plucked, from since he was very young. The chicken that did this to him has now been gone for several weeks and I see new growth but...

She hasn't always been that way. It took a lot of time, scolding and consistency socializing all 3 of my dogs with the chickens. We started when they were just about 2 weeks old. Old enough for a little bit of excitement with out putting their health in danger but still young enough I...

LOL, my dog doesn't have fleas... hehehe... fleas are kind of rare here in Utah for some reason. I think it just means that your babies adore/love you.

We have an Echo to... she is soo laid back and all the pullets love her. Fancy is a little roo, he doesn't seem to like the dogs as much, but tolerates them being out in the yard with him and his flock... I captured this video just yesterday of one of the girls with Echo... LMBO...

I'm SOOO glad we don't have to worry about fleas... <knock on wood> The chickens just simply seem to adore all my dogs. I've been socializing them all since the chicks were about 2 weeks old and am so glad I took the extra time to do so. I thought I was just training my dogs to be...
I have 8 Rhode Island Reds that look so much a like that I'm having a hard time keeping track of which is which except when I notice something about them or their manners that makes them stand out from the rest... We have Fancy, Bossy, Blondy and Poppy... the other 4 currently are just 'the...
I shared a video of the chickens playing fetch with my boys (the heelers) a while back. Here is a new video of one of the chickens with my girl, Echo. Ive seen different chickens do this to her at different times but this was the first time I had my phone handy to catch it on video This is...
Love this thread!!
I'm pretty limited with my options since we built in an existing barn with cement walls. But now that the main structure is done the list of improvements to be made is being worked on (poop trays, landing spots for the tree roost, new hinges for the egg door so it opens...
It is hilarious... I had to go take his portrait for his milestone morning of his first crowing attempt. He is gonna be gorgeous!!
(at least I hope his right wing recovers from him being bullied by a foster rooster that plucked all his wing feathers out before I was able to get him out, poor...
My little RIR roo is about 15-16 weeks old now and he just made his first attempt at crowing... ... how horribly pathetic it sounded and at first I had no idea what I was hearing even though I was expecting it any day now and knew it would be pathetic. I had to jump up and check out the...
