Hi Yashar. Mayah from Colorado. Your birds are still in their own area. I have had many a baby chick. I let them do their own thing.
Ponape grandma is 6 years old now and the matriarch with Asshole the Collonca. During the last blizzard, the coop toppled and by the time I made it to her...
This is an old post but I happened upon it because my olive eggers also have the violaceous sheen to their feathers. I attribute it to the ponape parentage. They are gorgeous birds. I just wonder how common the blue/purple sheen is.
You shipped me some of these last spring and I have some of their offspring in my flock now. Even their combs are almost black. They are gorgeous birds and truly hope this will add to them. They plummage is blue in the sun rather than the dull green I see so often in other dark birds.
So many of us have tried economically viable solutions for hatching sea level eggs up here. There really isn't any. Most rely on pumping in oxygen. I've seen some people try to only hatch the porous shells and others try other things. Of my eggs during peak cycle, I always get over 90%...
They are very hardy in the dry, heat Colorado spring/summers and do just as well in the frigid cold. We are forecast -30 xmas eve so will supplement heat but down to around zero with a flock of around 50, they are just fine. I suspect their cold hardiness comes from being Massachusettes birds...
No offense to give but until you live at over 7200 ft above sea level and have attempted to hatch eggs, even with a brinsea....please refrain from giving people false hope. Many a coloradan has had their wallets lightened and their hopes smashed countless times in the attempt of hatching sea...
These are a couple of my mixes.
Absolutely beautiful birds. These are mixes so aren't true but wanted to give a little genetic diversity. I ended up with many, many beautiful lavender birds.
Some of the very blue eggs along with my olive green eggs. The creme colored eggs are from...
I have received some of Yashar's colloncas and a few other breeds for my little hobby farm up over 7000 feet. The colloncas are an incredibly hardy breed up here and every single one I've ever gotten from Yashar is still alive and doing well. I have read some of the debate on other pages about...
700 posts... no way I'll get to them. Hope I didn't miss too much. Too much going on here lately but will try to at least check in once every day or so.
So the turkeys are both still alive but the hen has a respiratory issue. She is separated until I can sort it out.
The duck's foot is...
It's more than that now. The quote that I was given was almost $220. I have elected to forego the xray and save almost $50 off the total tab. The analytical part of me told me to just sell her for $25 to someone who wanted a nice peking duck dinner and save myself the added bill. I still...
Who's the poultry vet in Colorado Springs? I'm tired of trying to non-evasively get rid of the bumblefoot in qwackette. At this point, I'm not sure if she keeps getting bumble or I just haven't cleared it up enough from last year. I would try the bumblefoot surgery but with ducks, the...
If I had a little pond, they would be so easy as they love being outside all the time. A friend of mine is contemplating building a little pond on her property and has promised to take my pekings. I'd keep the little runner as she isn't much different than a chicken and needs a lot less space...
I've been trying to find a nice home for mine for well over a year. =) I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never find a place that will not eat them and don't have the heart to send them to their deaths because they really are gentle creatures. So that leaves me attempting to...
I placed another ton order in and it should be here by Thursday. they gave me the same price as last time, 14.25 per bag, 20percent layer feed. pm me if interested.
