Hello everyone! My husband and I got a Tom turkey about a month ago he’s 2 years old and probably weighs about 30 pounds. We’ve been keeping him in an enclosed pen so he can get to know our property before we let him free range.
4 days ago we came outside and he wouldn’t stand up he was...
I have a baby turkey that is about a month old and he has just been acting very lethargic in comparison to his brothers and sisters. He eats and drinks but mainly stands still with his wings droopy and his head held close to his body. His poop appears normal and his crop is full when he goes...
The droppings were very fresh, I saw the chicken do it. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a photo of the worm but they were very small. Not like a roundworm. My chickens all weigh about 4-5 pounds except for my rooster who weighs about 9 pounds. I gave everyone 1 ml orally except for my roo who I...
Hi everyone! A few days ago I noticed some small worms about 1/2 inch long in one of my new hens poop. I decided to deworm the whole flock today with safeguard.
I know that I need to dose everyone again in ten days but I’m wondering how I will know if the treatment worked? Will I actually...
If you do this tends to be where roos grab to hold on while they mount hens.
if no rooster I’d say it’s most likely your other hens causing it, especially if this girl is at the lower end of the pecking order.
Interesting, my 2 Swedish flowers died with no other symptoms when they were just over a year old. I should have done a necropsy to see if it was something similar.
Please help, my entire flock of 20 birds has come down with some kind of respiratory illness. My go-to med tylan is indefinitely back ordered so I treated with LE 200. (3 days, .2ml per pound) My birds seemed to be improving.
But now whatever they have has come back and has moved to their...
I just purchased a few new hens yesterday and today 2 are showing signs of respiratory illness, one is much worse than the other. I treated them both with 1 cc of La200 in the breast earlier this afternoon.
Does anyone know how long it takes before I may start to see signs of improvement?
As you can probably guess from the title, my 2 1/2 year old rooster has had both of his spurs fall off in the past month. He appears to be in perfect health and is not acting like he is in distress. I came outside today to find a bloody nub where his remaining spur had been. Is this normal...
I hadn’t thought of that! The first thing I thought when I started draining the liquid off was that it looked like bile. Unfortunately necropsy isn’t an option as I buried her a couple of days ago.
There were no signs of trauma that I noticed but then again, who knows. Chickens are so good at hiding when they are injured or don’t feel well. I used a 16 gauge to drain her, I looked for 14s but I’m not sure my farm store carries them. I’ll probably end up ordering some to have on hand...
Thank you all for your recommendations. I tried the antibiotics for 4 days. She was showing no improvement and had stopped eating and drinking on her own. I decided that there was no need to prolong her suffering so my vet agreed to euthanize her for me. Have any of you ever seen/dealt with...
