    Chick attacked by kitten

The little guy passed away a few hours ago. Cat bite went pretty far into his side, behind his wing. Other chicks are getting along fine. I'll be sure to cat-proof the brooder.

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

The chickies are hereeeee!!! Brought home 6 Dixie Rainbow chicks (5 now ... cat attacked one). 2 of them I just love. Khaan and Klara, a cockerel and a hen (at least, I THINK so. Too young to tell for sure). My favorites, Khaan (dark coloring) and Klara (yellow/white). My sisters took the...

    Chick attacked by kitten

Just checked him over and discovered a bite mark and some blood on his down. Will clean it and isolate him from the others so they don't start pecking at him.

    Chick attacked by kitten

Hi, I brought home 6 baby chicks the other day, and my kitten was fine with them the first 2 days, but this morning I woke up when a chick started shrieking. I had to chase the cat around the house until he dropped the chick on the floor and ran off. The chick is back in the brooder, drinking...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Well, well. Been quite a while, eh? The bad news: Lost all the chickens this winter. All of them. Some kind of rat, raccoon, opossum, I don't know, but it's getting into the coop. I'm gonna leave out the details ... Good news: Gonna head over to TSC and bring home a new batch of chickies...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

...If only the hens were still laying. I'd fill the 'bator up with eggs and have another go at a hatch. I put a light source in the coop, but the girls always manage to unplug it from the outlet.

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

My, has it been a while! My laptop crashed and I wasn't able to get online for a while. XD Well, it sure hasn't been a perfect month. Lost a few hens, almost lost the roo (again!), and one of the RIR girls is looking weak. Well, I sure do have good luck with hawks/falcons. Last week, I opened...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Aw poor duck. Good thing you found her before it was too late! All three of those are possible, so I can't be sure. I think you should hang up those flyers.

X2 Sorry... It just wasn't meant to be. Better to put him down then to have him suffer.

    American serama thread!

Just received some chicken diapers for Tweet. He acts as if they aren't even there! He's just strutting around the bedroom, and scaring the kitten away. He's so friendly towards people, but when the little kitten pads over to him, he gets all territorial, he tries to scare him away and will peck...

    Guess the Breed--Horse!

I believe there is some breed like that called the Grauschimmel, which means "grey horse." Would that be it? A Grauschimmel?

Is this cuckoo maran a chick or a dude?

If you mean the black and white one in this pic: Then yes, that's a BR roo. I own a Cuckoo Maran roo and he is nowhere similar in color, yours has no feathering of the legs as far as I can see.
