Above is a view from the yard at the coop and run, ready for winter.
This is the coop, the original home of my 5 Bantam Cochins. I have plans for an addition.
This is the nest box I made out of a cat litter bucket that my girls like to use. Below WAS a picture of my modest little flock. After...
I have about a 4 inch lip to keep enerything in the nests. They still kick everything out. This continues to happen, they still lay eggs in there, but I find some outside the nest box, depends on how quickly I get to them. But every last bit of the bedding comes out every time I fill it up.

As soon as the weather warms up I will be in touch!! I am just starting to do my research on turkey, I think I have enough space to keep 4 to 6 comfortably, depending on the size. I will probably PM you sometime in the upcoming months!!
I have a hen who is a loner too. She goes and hangs out with the other sometimes, but not too often. You can put the chickens in the new coop, give them treats and feed in there, then move the feed outside, they will adapt quickly. I have moved mine from tractors to the main coop this way. I...
I will keep you in mind when the weather warms up a little. I have never had turkey before, when would be a good time frame for contacting you for eggs or poults? I usually start my meat birds around April.
I plan on getting some eggs or little ones this spring to raise instead of meat chickens this year. Anyone out there from my area (Jefferson County, Pennsylvania) who could help me out? I am not stuck on any specific breed at this time. If you can help me out please send me a message.
For some reason, my hens have started pulling all of their nesting materials out of the nest and scattering the eggs around the coop. Any ideas why in the world they would be doing this? I have tried straw, wood shavings and shredded news paper, all scattered out.
I had one that I put in solitary confinement for a while, after that he was fine (until a opposum got him). I had another one that went after my daughter, he got the boot and he kept his distance from me after that, but I caught him at night off the roost, posted him on here and gave him to a...

I would ask around your area to see if anyone has what you want, but depending on where you live, make sure the weather is warm enough to support only a few birds coming to your door, or at the very least have the Post Office hold them inside for you to pick up.
I catch mine stealing the gravel from the driveway all the time. When I have the little ones in the brooder, I mix a little grit with their feed, just to help get them started, even though it probably isn't necessary, after that it is just an extra expense that they don't need. I suppose if...
WHen they get to the size you want to cook them would be my advice. Remember, you are going to be paying to feed them, and is the cost of the feed to wait another month or two worth the pay out for the feed? If they range and forage for most of their food, then sure, give it some time to let...
The way it was explained to me was starter for a bag or two (we get 15 to 20 birds at a time), then grower for a few bags, and a week or two before you send to the processor give them finisher. This batch I am sending to the processor on Monday had starter for one bag, grower the rest of the...
Well they did reward me with 2 eggs today, but I managed to break my broody of her bad habit, maybe. She was out all day with the others, but when I went to close up the coop she was back on the nest, we'll see tomorrow, but at least I am good for a while now, just have to clean out under the...
You will probably need to get bigger feeders in a couple weeks to keep up with them, but for chicks that is fine. and as for the brick, put the brick directly on the bottom of the brooder, and put the bedding up next to it, but not as high as the brick. You just need something to elevate it a...
Just finished cleaning and freshening up the coop. I decided to pass on cleaning the run out since it was starting to sprinkle. I am glad I stuck with a small coop, I can't imagine having a large flock and room sized coop and the poo to go with it. Of course being a composter, now I need some...
Also, what kind of flour are you using? I used wheat flour for mine. and I don't remember adding sugar. Got some infor off of the internet. Made a ton of bread and pancakes with it and never had a problem as long as I fed it regularly.
