My 5 year old Rhode Island Red has been sneezing a lot and has a runny nose. Her eyes are also sort of watery. She's been eating, drinking, foraging, as normally as the other chickens and they do not seem to have any of her symptoms. She's also been lying down and sleeping a lot more than usual...
I have 4 pullets, 3 white rocks and 1 white leghorn, that are a little over 4 months old. I was wondering how old chickens usually start laying at? And that if I should expect the first eggs to be really small or soft shelled? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you :)
I am not sure what caused it, but I had felt her crop and there didn't seem to be any lumps or sharp objects. It was sticky and clear. It didn't happen again since I made the post, so I am assuming that she has recovered. I am still going to keep watch incase it happens again.
Also, this wasn't...
Yes, she is most likely not a rooster. Her looks are quite similar to the other pullets and I haven't heard any rooster-like sounds from her. She is 3 months old and looks just like a regular pullet.
Here is the most recent picture of her
Hello, my fully grown rhode island hen has been throwing up. I started giving her sulfadimethoxine a few days after she started, and it is still continuing. She is staying indoors while we try to get a new chicken house built. Does anyone know what might be wrong and how to help?? Any help would...
Hello, I have bought some sulfadimethoxine soluble powder for 4 pullets. It says on the package to put the contents into 50 gallons of water. I have a 1 gallon waterer. I did some math and found out that I would put in 0.45 teaspoons per gallon. Would the dosage be less though, because my...
I couldnt find any Tylan at the stores (besides the injectable kind, but only for pigs and cattle) but what I did find was sulfadimethoxine soluble powder. It says on the package that it can be given to chickens, but doesn't say anything about helping respiratory illnesses. I bought it but...
I have 4 pullets, 1 is sick and the rest seem to be healthy. Is it safe to feed it to all of them, even though not all the pullets are sick? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
I have another fully grown chicken that might have given her an illness, but as far as I know the other chicken has no illnesses. I have the pullet isolated from the others at the moment and am working on getting the antibiotic.
Here is what my pullet looks like.
Hello, I have 4 ten week old pullets. 3 are white rocks and 1 is a white leghorn. One of the rocks seems to be sick, the skin around her eyes is swollen and the rest of her face is red. Also her eyes are very watery and her beak is always slightly open. None of the other pullets are...
Hello, :)
My pullets are going to be 2 months tomorrow, and I was wondering how old should they be when I give them different food? I've been feeding them baby-chick food and I don't know wether to start feeding them adult pellets, or if there is even a type of food inbetween, that is made for...
Hello, my chicken has been indoors for almost 7 weeks. We let her walk on the carpet sometimes, and I noticed the bottoms of her feet are red and very squishy. I can't remember if her feet were like this when she was outside or not. It doesn't seem to bother her too much, but I just wanted to...
