My hen is sitting on a few eggs, she has not done well in the past to hatch them. So I was wondering if I got a few chicks from Tractor supply and put under her, will she still sit on the eggs she has,and still raise the adopted chicks?
That's GREAT news! My rooster is a fullblood Americana and has been a extremely good and vigilant Rooster. I know he is getting the job done so to speak, because I have 2 of his offspring now @ 4 months old. And one happens to be a rooster. Thanks for the help.
My rooster is roughly 2yrs old,how long are they able to still fertilize eggs? I know hens are usually 2yrs for laying eggs, but there are exceptions. But what about Roosters?
Yeah I have a rooster,he has always been very laid back. So it really is a gamble? What about feeding the chicks? as of now they have their own food and water that only they and mom can get to,how do I / should I handle this?
So this isnt my first time to raise baby chicks, but I have always kept them seperate from the flock. My hen has recently hatched a couple of chicks and she and the chicks are seperate from the flock, but can still be seen by the flock. My question is can i let her and the chicks into the flock...
With the recent enlargement of my flock I added 2 more nesting boxes. I didn't have the room to add them right next to the old ones so I put the new ones across(12ft)from the old ones. My question is will this matter at all.in any way shape or form? Or do I need to have them In one row? Thanks...
Thanks. Hopefully they will give me two years, just kind of aggravating to get a different bread than what I paid for. They are very friendly birds though, and the kids love that.
Ok so this is my first go with this type of breed. When I purchased them from tractor supply the lady told me they were Barred rock, well they are NOT! Anyway I have heard they will only lay for one year then they are basically done. I know it ALL depends on the bird but is this true? Or are they...
Ok I bought some chicks (10)from tractor supply last Thursday. But I also have a broody hen sitting on 3 eggs right now and they" should" hatch out sometime this week. My question is should I take the chicks out of the brooder and stick them under mom at night when said chicks hatch? Or should...
I have a couple of roosters that I didn't know they were until know. I vaccinated my entire flock for fowl pox. It has been about 2 months? My question is are they safe to eat (the roosters) even though I vaccinated them ?
i will give it a try first thing in the morning. Just curious if she does have a egg stuck so to speak what can i do for her? and will this problem repeat itself?
now i know for sure her comb is good, it is the same red and and no flop for sure. She just sits there gave them bread yesterday and she wouldnt even peck at it. Im working now so i havent had a chance to look at her today but will have all day tomorrow. I hope it is not something that will...
