One of our chicks was huddled in the corner today so we pulled her out and checked her over, she wouldnt open her eyes and they looked swollen so I opened the lid gently with a clean finger and both are completely bloodshot, like filled with blood.
She seems to have a nice crop, food and...

Why thank you I am trying to get a real job as I just finished my degree and haven't got enough funds to do chickens full time. Its more of a hobby for me I do the hatching though I think now we are in Wales we will make a real go of it.
Back to the topic:
Emmerdale is always a good...
Hi there,
Hoping for an update? Im crossing my fingers for you.
If you don't get a hatch I may have some eggs spare? PM me later
Im currently hatching out my third batch of IR by incuator and they always seem to hatch on time
As for getting super friendly ducks the trick is to handle them...
...them from eggs.
My ducks are all doing well, we hatched out the first lot of their babies a few months ago but they have all gone to new homes now *sigh* They still arent too sociable though
Also got another brood of my IR eggs in the incubator as well as some chocolate IR eggs
Will post...
Its not so much a case of particular cities in Europe just the laws of different countries I think. I know for a fact in England, Wales and Scotland there isn't much zoning if at all on keeping Chickens. I know people who have chickens in the middle of London! There's no real rule as to where...
...6 mixed ducks (cayuga, crested etc), 6 turkey eggs, 6 khaki campbells
I think thats it, i probably forgot someone!!
Im so excited too!! Keep me posted I LOVE QUAIL *crosses fingers*
p.s. hello everyone, sorry I havent posted in ages, I finished my degree and moved to Wales so have been busy!
I noticed my duck house has been much cleaner lately and couldn't understand why until we went to check on the new chicks late tonight.
I found all 5 of my indian runners asleep outside on the grass! I'm guessing they have been sleeping out for a while now.
I ushered them in the house and shut...
Sounds like either a low temp or a hot temp spike late in the incubation. I agree give them a few more days.... you have to clean the bator at some point anyway so leaving them in wont do any harm
I wouldn't panic if you look at my post in caring for chicks title " Head over heels chick" a couple of days ago.
My silkie chick at 1 day old span round in circles via her wings as she was just too wobbly on her legs... I tried pipe cleanering her legs incase it was splayed leg and she screamed...
I wouldnt try to deflate it as it may be anything and it may lead to infection if you open it up. My only real suggestion is vets?
Does it feel like liquid or air?
Im really sorry i hope the ducky gets better soon!
I tried pipe-cleaners she fell flat on her back and cried for ages so I took it off and left her.
She is now up and walking and running brilliantly but her legs are at a funny angle.... not splayed but almost turned in! We will take each day as it comes, but she's doing great other than that...
I said it before and I will say it again, It isnt the exporting out of America you will have to worry about.... it's leaving the country they wont mind!! Its getting it into Germany! From the sounds of what you guys said America is just as worried about importing foodstuff as Europe. If you get...
I'm up for that, im down south of England so we didn't get the worst of the snow but I know what you mean about harsh winters!!
Can't wait for the hatch, its the first time withmy new incubator
Good luck!!
I set 31 eggs last night:
8 gold dutch Seramas, (bought)
6 assorted Silkies (bought)
2 black bearded silkies (from landlady)
6 Lavender pekins (bought)
6 assorted pekins (bought)
3 assorted pekins (my own)
I didn't think i would fit so many in my bator!!
Who else is hatching out that week?
I'm pretty sure they wouldnt mind you exporting stuff as long as it's safe but importing it into Europe may be another story!
I know in the UK you probably wouldn't be allowed to bring in eggs because they are an "Animal foodstuff" and they are very strict on things like that. Even if they are...
Because chickens like you to appreciate their worth
Sorry your frustrated... but hey at least you have a broody AND an incubator now? I sense multiple hatches coming along
