i've just found this thread because my gorgeous girl Lucky has just started showing symptoms of wry neck. she's my only cream leghorn living with a flock of Silkies, as she was hatched from an egg about 2yrs ago
i've started her on the nutri drops and 1 capsule of vitamin E this morning...it's...
hi, it's a heat pad. like the brinsea one, only a bit bigger....and yes, thay absolutely loved it! spent the first few days under it, and then they decided they liked to sleep on top as well!
aww your indian runners are gorgeous!! they look pretty much the same colours as mine....mine are 17 days old today and i can't believe how fast they grow!
aww thanks, they're Indian Runners. they'll be fawn and white when they feather up
i actually got the eggs shipped through ebay so i was really pleased to hatch 8 out of the 12 eggs
i got the heat pad from a UK based company Home Farm Fowls
it's height settings are much better than the...
here you go sorry about the pooped all over heat pad lol!! i DO clean it every day, but i think they prefer it dirty!
the middle picture, they were about 2 days old, and now they're 12 days old
hi, i made sure to buy the anti slip vinyl flooring,,,cost me £25 for that size!! its has little raised lines on it that makes it non slippy, but yes you're right....lino is extremely slippery, thats why i paid more for a better quality ....and i spend too much time playing with them lol, and...
hi, i really hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread, but i just hatched ducklings about 12 days ago, and thought you'd like to see my set up......
this was the first brooder box i made for my ducklings...it lasted 3 days before being absolutely trashed lol
this 2nd pic shows their new...
wow your post made my eyes go funny lol!
i honestly can't imagine that the eggs will hatch, as they need continual heat and humidity for the first 18 days, then you have to greatly increase the humidity for the last 3 days, so that the chicks can break through their shells
because you've...
sorry, i went off line!
no, the chicks won't hurt the unhatched eggs, unless they happen to fall asleep on top of them, and then they could potentially suffocate the chicks inside the eggs
if the hatched chicks are fluffy, take them out as fast as you can, but LIGHTLY spray the eggs before...
hi, you can leave the new chicks in for a maximum of 48 hrs, but i tend to leave them about 12 as long as they're all fluffed up
just be REALLY fast when you open the incubator as you'll lose precious humidity
i have a spray bottle of warm water at the ready....open the bator, spray the eggs...
these are my indian runner babies at 24 hours old...they're 3 days old now. we had 8 all hatch on monday and some of them have decided they prefer to sleep on TOP of the heat pad lol!
my new babies are here!!
they've been hatching all night, and we have 7 out of 9 eggs successfully hatched!! they're all eating , drinkng....and running through their water bowl!!
still have 1 trying to hatch, and 1 died in the egg
they're little Indian Runners...and i'm in love...
so sorry i never got back on here for a while...been soo busy this last week
was hand feeding little Rocky every couple of hours....and 1 week on here he is
so thank you to all those who gave me positive help...he's doing brilliantly!
i DID go out and buy a heat lamp as soon as jammy suggested it, and i certainly don't like your attitude majd...there is NO NEED to be so nasty and callous
everything i did for him, i did with the advice i found on here, as well as ringing a friend of mine who breeds ducklings
it was on here...
no, he's not walking yet
i don't hold out much hope for him to be honest, but i'm giving him drips of water and egg yolk every hour or so
he's laid on his tummy, but he can lift his head, and he can drag himself around a little bit!
i'll keep on trying with him tho,of course i...
i read bad things about heat lamps, that's why i went with the pads
i've been getting sugar water and drips of raw egg yolk in him every hour or so and he's perking up...or at least i hope he is
and when i talk to him, he's cheeping
his eyes aren't open properly yet, but i can see they're...
when i got up this morning about he's crawled out from under his heat pad. i'd built a rolled - up - towel - barrier about 6" from it as well,in case he did that, and he was really cold
still alive, but really cold
i held him for a few seconds, rubbing him, but he's not very responsive, and...
