For fans of Game of Thrones

GoT is never dead...it merely slumbers! Just hearing the theme song gives me shivers. ...I hope so, too! <3

Smashed egg - LIVE chick - NEED HELP ASAP

I would use a brush and not spray though. The chick is peeping, so it's breathing the air outside the shell...I wouldn't spray. Just tiny dabs of the oil from a very small brush.

Smashed egg - LIVE chick - NEED HELP ASAP

It's a hard call...I'd know better how to advise if there was any idea how far along the eggs are. At this point though, a higher humidity would be to keep the membrane from drying out and shrinking around the chick. That's also what the coconut oil is for - it softens the membrane. You can see...

Smashed egg - LIVE chick - NEED HELP ASAP

In the past (but this was when I was assisting an already pipping chick) I used coconut oil with a very tiny artist-type brush. The membrane will be vascular (active blood veins) until the veins naturally retract. When assisting, I'd remove a tiny bit of WHITE, non-vascular membrane with some...

Is normal for chickens to be sleepy during day?

Our chickens take naps during the day...especially in the sun. They are about five months old. However, chickens are flock animals...they need others around them.

What did you do in the garden today?

Warm and humid is good but no, a skylight is indirect light. Your fly trap wants direct sunlight or an equivalent. If you can't put it on a windowsill where it will get direct sunlight for several hours a day then you'll need a grow-light...one that gives light equivalent to direct sunlight. One...

What did you do in the garden today?

So then. Venus flytraps CAN be kept indoors but are much happier outside. Mine stay outside all year long. We're in Oregon where it's not horribly cold in the winter, but mine had survived freezing temperatures for SHORT periods of time in Portland before we moved further south. If you want to...

Any other hippies here need some virtual hugs?

So - I'm class of '65. Lived a pretty much hippy lifestyle right out of high school. Oh, I got a job as a telephone operator but I also lived in a commune of little cabins after mom (pretty gently) threw me out of the house ("It's time you learned to live on your own."). We smoked grass, ran...

    Roosters?

Yes, they're roos. As for what you do with them, you have 3 choices. Rehome them, if you can find people who want roosters...put up with six roosters, and all the fighting and crowing you're going to have...eat them. We ate our 3. They were absolutely delicious!

    First EGG! Whodunnit.

We just had our first egg, too. I can tell you exactly who laid it... Ask your friend which bird runs around singing the egg song. Our Easter Egger Glynnis, was SO loud and the egg song is nothing like any other noises they'd made. And she kept it up for almost an hour!!
