10+ week old frizzle, help sexing

Old hen, thank you for the pictures, and Tiela too! It does appear that the feathers on mine are much more curly...hopefully it doesn't cause her (being hopeful) any problems and she continues to not loose any feathers.

10+ week old frizzle, help sexing

Thank you! Dolly, I am hoping it is a she! Old Hen, sorry for my ignorance, but what makes you think it's a frazzle? He/she isn't loosing feathers that I am aware of and this is our friendliest chicken that we hold daily. Is it just the curling pattern?

10+ week old frizzle, help sexing

I have a bantam frizzle I purchased from a feed store 8/01, so I know he/she is at least 10 weeks old (probably close to 11 weeks). I need help determining if I have a pullet or a cockerel. Thank you!

    Scorpion sting?

For those following, my hen has made a full recovery. Last night I fished her eye out but she still wouldn't open it. Then this morning she had it open half way and was eating well, walking around normally but occasionally scratching near that eye. I suspect that is where she was stung. I...

Thanks! I think she's on the mends. I'm so thrilled as I thought for sure she was a goner when I went out to find her this morning. Her breathing was shallow and her face was plastered in the mud :(. I think I found her just in time! But, she's now standing well, eating loads of treats and...

    Scorpion sting?

She seems to be slowly improving! It's been 9 hrs since I found her and she just stood up. She's walking like a drunk and still not opening the one eye but she did drink some and ate a couple bites of a peach. Looks like she may recover.

I couldn't find a puncture wound but I know we have lots of bark scorpions on our property so it's the first thing that came to mind. She's improve a little in the last couple hours. She stood up, took a few steps, drank some water and a bite of a peach. She still has one eye closed and acts...

    Arizona Chickens

I think one of my hens for stung by a scorpion, but not really sure. They let themselves out of the coop to free range every morning. I went out at 6:30am and found her out of the coop, by the other side of the coop laying on her side face down in the dirt. I thought she was dead until I...

    Scorpion sting?

Thank you, for the dosing info! I was curious when to give again. It's been 4 hrs and she only has slight improvements. She is resting now in the laundry room where it is cool. I will keep you posted how she does.

    Scorpion sting?

She definitely seems to have some of these symptoms. I found her on her side, lots of drool, etc. Her lower extremities and especially the right side seemed paralyzed. She seems to be getting back some of the movement now but still very listless. Anything else I can do for her to help? I...

    Scorpion sting?

No swelling that I can find, although it seems to me affecting mostly her right side. I have been stung by a bark scorpion once and did not have any swelling but maybe the chickens are different?

    Arizona Chickens

I understand most people are hesitant to get new birds introduced into their flock. I have a small flock of 16. I have 3 broodies. I stuck our eggs under them but I am assuming because of the heat none have developed. I want to get my girls off the nest with this heat....what do you all...

Thank you all, this confirms my guesses. I was hoping one of those cute, black skinned NN's would be a hen but I may be keeping another rooster if not.

    Help sexing

I have three chicks that are 4 weeks old. They are barnyard mixes from my splash silkie roo, so all have a pea comb, 5 toes, etc. The first one is from my blue Andalusian hen and the other two are from my NN hen that went broody and raised these three. First one I'm guessing is a pullet The...
