    Too hot?

They have access to water at all times, outside it is in the tubs, and inside it is in a home-made chicken waterer, but deeper so they can clean their noses(basically a bucket flipped upside down with a hole about 6 inches up, when it goes below the hole, air goes in and water comes out to...

    Too hot?

It has been reaching high temps here in MD, today it's 99*F, yesterday it was like 102*f. My geese are acting unusual today. They don't want to leave their run, and they keep spitting up water. One of my white gosling's has been standing on her tippy toes when she walks, and falls down...

Can't figure out what he is

His bill squares off at the top, but is higher than the other gosling's. Both of them started with black bills, but the other's bill changed to pinkish oragne a while ago and his is still a nice dark black. I hope he keeps the coloring he has now, he is a beautiful goose, and has been my...

Can't figure out what he is

I have a little goose who is supposed to be toulouse...but he has me stumped as to what he really is. He has one black foot, and one orange foot, a black bill, brown & white feathering but has a white stripe that comes up to his shoulders from his chest. Here are a couple pictures..any help...

Something got ahold of a gosling.

I called the vet, he agreed to see me right away, he took a look at Duke. His bottom jaw on the left side is broken, the wound on the side of his face is already infected. He said he could try to put his jaw back together, but it's not probable that it will work because they use their bills for...

Something got ahold of a gosling.

I'm not sure the vet would be able to do anything, the beak is completely gone from end to end one one side. He also has some wounds on his back. He is trying to eat and drink, but can't get anything scooped up. His tongue is resting on the edge of the remaining piece. I'll call the vet and...

Something got ahold of a gosling.

I have a handful of goslings, they are feathering out, not exact on age. I got home late, and just went back to put them in for the night (they were in their run, covered) and found one of my toulouse goslings is missing most of his bottom bill. I think there is some on one side left, but I can...

So, how do I tell whether I have an African or Toulouse?

Can you get a better shot of their faces? You can tell by the top of their beak (where it meets their face) If it is more square or u shaped then it is Toulouse, if it is round then it is African.

    gosling and water?

They can go in the water as soon as you want them to, but make sure they don't chill after. If your putting a pan in the brooder, be prepared for a mess when you get home, lol maybe before you leave. My guys get a gallon jug with a hole cut for their heads to fit in when they are in the brooder...

    Ordering Goslings

This is Darbie(one of the toulouse)...he has quite a personality so far. Pretending to be a Flamingo.. The one on the right I'm thinking is going to be a gander..he is large compared to the rest and is always alert.

    Ordering Goslings

The Toulouse do have prickelies the 4 yellow ones don't (I'm not sure what they are, he had toulouse, embden, pilgrims and sebbies, in the sunlight they all appear to have blue eyes) I let them out of the cage a few minutes ago to see what they would do, I started walking away and what do ya...

Very Sad, but I have a quick question.

Thanks for the offer Terri O, but I don't travel much at all. Dad brought me home 7 gosling's yesterday. I only wanted 5 babies, and was going to order them from Metzer farms, but he suprised me. The guy had 7 for $7/each, Dad was only going to get the 5 but he said he just couldn't leave the...

    Ordering Goslings

They freak out when I pick them up, peeping and wiggling around like a fish out of water. I had them outside today so they could pay and get some fresh air..they loved it. Played in their water, ate some grass and ran around. Here are the pictures I have at the moment, my camera is dead so they...

    Ordering Goslings

Dad is pretty great. I took it really hard when Darcie was killed, I cried for a while. Duckie and Darcie were my very first geese, they had a strong hold on my heart, and Darcie being my cuddly girl, I could pick her up whenever I wanted, she would come over to me a lean on my leg wanting to be...

    Ordering Goslings

Thanks for all of the info, I was ready to place my order at Metzer Farms after reading how popular they were... Dad came home with 7 gosling's today 1embden, 3 yellow with brown eyes, and 3 toulouse. He said he was only going to get 5, but just couldn't bare to leave the other two behind. They...

what kind of babies are we???

Quote: Thats it, I look at posture. Toulouse seem to hold their bodies more horizontal and lower where Africans are more vertical and higher. Here are links to Metzer Farms, they have the perfect example of the posture difference...

    Ordering Goslings

Holderead is sold out of both breeds I wanted..lol My gander now is a Toulouse/African cross, so those are the breeds I am looking to get. His mate was killed yesterday by a dog, he is fathering their adopted duckling now, but when I re-home the duckling in a few months I need him to have a few...
