Well, you know....I thought my little black bantam hen was a japanese bantam, but after doing some research she appears to be a rosecomb. She has large white earlobes too. These little bantams have feathered legs...the only feathered legged rooster in my bantam pen is a mille fleur d'uccle.
I have 3 bantam roosters and little black hens that look identical. Can anyone help me determine what breeds mixed to get these?
In the pen where these were hatched from I have, silver laced sebrights (male/female), black japanese bantam (female), mille fleur d'uccles (male/females). Thanks.
I'm really excited. We are fairly new to quail. Just placed 119 coturnix in the incubator last night (pharoah, tibetan and a&m). Hoping for a good hatch!! :)
Thank you Missnu01, casportpony, and chickensaresweet! I have sent an email to my local extension office, hopefully they will get back with me soon. I really want to confirm what this is so it can be dealt with properly. I do have about a dozen little chicks in a separate area...none of them...
I forgot to mention that I have 4 small coturnix quail (recent addition) that are in a separate pen from the chickens....not sure if this might have any relevance to my sick chickens....trying to cover all my bases to find out what is wrong. Thanks.
Thank you chickadee101. I will increase the dosage to 1cc today. All chickens showing symptoms have been separated from the rest of the flock. I read about coryza but the chickens don't smell bad....they are lethargic, decreased appetite and thirst, eyes swollen and rattle when they breathe....
Have a few more with symptoms. The tylan seems to be helping....they are up walking around more, eating and drinking. Does anyone think this might be coryza?
I forgot to mention that I also have several 3 to 6 week old chicks (bought from TSC) in a separate pen ....I have had several die in the past few days.... not sure if this might be related....
