I have some young rhode island reds heritage that wont attack you .. and some young black copper marans I think the marans will be larger than the reds.

I have gotten chicks from several hatcherys mcmurry, ideal, central hatchery, mt healthy, privet, and the last I got were from sandhill preservation center who as someone stated try to keep the breeds as close to standard as possible. they really went the extra mile for customer service for me...
I just counted and I hatched a little over 100 chicks this year. have 2 cockerels left of the 15 week old group 25 pullets..and 24 pullets and 10 cockerels left of the 8 week old group. I hatched from 4 cocks this year but I will only use 2 next year.. and maybe my 3 yr old that I didn't hatch...
I got some from ideal have 5 pullets 15 weeks ..they are very pretty girls for hatchery stock.. and picked up some eggs from a breeder in ar he is on this thread also really dark eggs have 12 chicks now 9 weeks ....
hey Linda I am thinking about ordering some cornishx for processing I am just north of Shreveport . were you planning to get 125 for yourself? would you be interested in splitting an order and then sharing the processing ie I come help you and you come help me ..and I have an electric plucker...
therry that depends on who you ask ? i never vaccinate a chicken or chick.. i want my flock to be immune to all diseases naturally and if they are not i want some that are. i lose very few as in less than 10% chicks hatched in a year and i will hatch 500 or so. i lose less than 1% chickens...
that depends on who you ask. some people say never wash an egg. i say if its dirty wash it. my answer comes from our poulty industry almost every egg they set is washed and they hatch millions if not billions of chicks yearly. others my speak up just my opinion :) good luck hatching them
i am a breeder of rhode island reds , i also have some easter eggers , and this year have added some black copper marans ,welsummers, and silver campines. the last three i only have chicks and not ready to sell them. in reds i have chicks ,some a month old some 3 months , and some 1 yr old...
in Pittsburg they have a sale every monday night starts at 6 pm i think. they sell junk ,some hatching eggs, rabbits, quail , ducks , chickens, pigs , goats, horses mules some dairy calves....i go sell excess birds i hatch . plan to go next monday night :)
let me know if you would like to have some heritage rir's i am going to sell several 1 yr old hens in the next few weeks. i will come over that way next monday night to the pittsburg sale. :)
the ones from the hatchery are ...but if you find a breeder with ones referred to as heritage or sop type they will not be aggressive at all. mine sure are not they even get along with each other ..they do establish a pecking order when i run them together but not any fighting like most breeds...
starfire the black and white ones are silver campines they are from spain and make 4 lbs hens and 6 lbs cocks they are flighty and busy great foragers lay large white eggs. these have matured quickly they are 11 or 12 weeks now and the little cockerels have been crowing since 5 weeks or so...
