All right. They are removed. I did it quickly. Glad everyone thinks he's normal. Hopefully we'll have a baby by tomorrow morning.
And @Yorkshire coop yes, it's a octagon 20, borrowed from someone, but it is my dream 'bator. If I was to ever be able to afford/have a need for one.
@Yorkshire Coop All right. You don't think the membrane looks overly dry?
I'll remove the dividers now. The person I borrowed the incubator from said that she just left them in, and I happen to know she gets quite the excellent hatch rate.
@WrapChick Hopefully someone with some experience gets in here soon to help me out! I've been rewetting his membrane with a warm damp towel, just to see if that helps until I get an expert opinion.
Thanks for the support though!
@Aphrael He pipped the first hole yesterday afternoon. Second...
@WrapChick Thanks! It means a lot. I'm just completely scared that he's not going to make it. I hear peeping every 5 minutes or so, so he's still going pretty strong, I'm just thinking that I need to help him get through that tough, tough membrane but I'm not sure if that's the best thing or not...
Alright so now I need help! The little guy is the only one that has pipped or anything and he's been pipped for about 17 hours now. I had been running the humidity high for a couple days prior to seeing any pipping.
However, his membrane is so dry! It's rather dark and leathery looking. I very...
A lot of people have temperature drops and spikes throughout the day, (especially from opening the incubator, and stuff like that.)
You'll probably just have a lower hatch rate than a lot of people will be able to get.
Is it normal for the little chicken not to have done anything else (except pip another hole..) for 12 hours now? I can hear him peeping still (from outside the incubator). I can see part of the membrane, and it looks white. Not clearish, or tan, or yellow. I heard if it looked tan, the chick may...
@Aphrael Thanks for the reassurance. I guess I just have "first time hatcher jitters". I've already upped the humidity in preparation for hatching that was supposed to be in a few days. That's exactly what I meant about the air cell, I'll reposition now to hopefully help the lil' guy.
Okay, so here's the deal. I'm brand new at this. (You may remember that I had an egg explode awhile back, 11 of the other eggs are still going strong though, thanks to a quick disinfecting of the 'bator)
I had dated them all, but (newbie mistake, I know) haven't been marking the air cell. I now...
We ordered 10 ducklings from Metzer Farms and received them on September 23, that puts them at about 6.5 weeks old. They are beautiful babies and feathering out wonderfully. The problem is that, well, they stink. I'm a little tired of them being in my garage, cleaning their little pen out has to...
All right. Eggs were removed for about 15 minutes under a heating bad while the incubator was cleaned and sanitized (NOTHING got the smell out but Purification EO! I just mixed the EO with diluted Hydrogen peroxide to kill the germs). All remaining eggs were candled and I tossed any that didn't...
So about 3 weeks ago I started some eggs (chicken, silky and some Americana mutts) in a borrowed Brinsea Octagon 20. I have candled several times and all looked fine, but this morning I woke up to a disgusting smell and a egg explosion (you have no idea how tempting it was to write that as...
It appears as though this is a network, where there is the website (getmehome.com) and a code (8 digit) on your pets tag, when someone finds your pet, they go to the website and enter the code, and are then given all your contact info (email address, phone number, address, etc) It looks as if it...
