Hey I'm from Texas but visiting family. Do you guys know where I can get chickens around Salt Lake or Sandy by Friday?
The breeds I'm interested in are
Wellsummers
Easter Eggers
Favacaunas
Trying to get some color in my egg carton. Thx!
I'm sorry I wasn't clear. you put the chicken in a sealed container with peroxide and baking soda and just wait. Cull does mean to kill and a broiler is a meat chicken.
If I was in the same situation I would wait a week though. I don't know if it would do any good, but I think I would do that.
I would use the Mathis they use to kill chicks. Peroxide and baking soda in a sealed container. They say it's like falling asleep. I personally just wring them, grab them by the neck, and swing in circles really fast. I have only used it on sick broilers and could never do it in egg laying...
I think it's called crude protein on the feed bag. I don't knowing right now because I'm out of town at the moment so I don't have a feed bag at the ready.
I would keep her in a separate pen and use a syringe to feed and water her. I would feed her Fermented Feed if you can or just moisten the feed with water as it will be easier for her to swallow. If there are no signs of recovery in 2 weeks, I would put her down
We had the same problem. The first time one of the hens got it she died in 2 weeks. The next time one got it she recovered.
Has anything stressful happened that's not usually normal?
If you ferment feed with animal fats in it, it will smell BAD. We had the same problem it's perfectly safe for them to eat but just smells. So we just got layer pellets without animal protein in it.
