Wry Neck - Confused about treatment

Thanks to the information on this thread one of mine that I've been feeding with a syringe for two days turned the corner last night after starting him/her on a full dose of Vitamin E. I was already giving rooster booster supplement and selenium. I've made a blended formula using Poly Vi Sol...

    Quail cage question

The size of the pen doesn't matter as much as the breed. If you put 2 bobwhite males together, my understanding is that they will fight to the death. I have coturnix and the only time you can have 2+ males together is when they are younger or in winter if housed outdoors. Other than that, they...

    New quail owner

I would not put bobwhite and coturnix together, especially if the bobwhites are already mature. Coturnix are much more docile than bobwhites and will probably lose that fight.

HELP!!!! CORTUNIX QUAILS NOT HATCHING DAY 22

My most recent hatch was 40/120 eggs of which 31 survived beyond the first week. So many things can go wrong with incubation. In our case, we had one cold night when we forgot to turn the heater in the room higher.

    Quail egg cartons

If you just want to have egg cartons for you, ask 3 friends to save you their chicken egg cartons. Free and easy. You can fit 2~3 eggs in each chicken egg spot in a normal carton. For selling eating eggs, you can get the plastic ones. They won't be too small. More likely they will be...

How to boil and easily peel a Quail Egg

Yep, we have the quail egg cutters. They're a real time saver. I guess I'm just bad at peeling because no matter what I try, it's still a very time intensive task.

    NO eggs. why?

By the way, I'm calling it a shed but it's really the workshop attached to our garage. It's very warm in there as long as the doors remain closed.

    NO eggs. why?

Our shed is very well insulated and even in below freezing temps, the temperature in the shed only drops to around 50 with no heat. I do have a generator I could use if needed, however. Thanks for the concern. :)

    Quail egg cartons

If you're shipping, you will probably have to add some small bubble wrap inside the cartons or they will rattle around too much. The only cartons that I found that worked perfectly are no longer made. :(

    NO eggs. why?

Our shed is right around 70 with the heater going. We have a heat lamp going in the brooder some of the time (right now just a regular bulb as this batch is ready to move over to cages soon). Our shed is insulated well so it just takes a small space heater on low-medium most of the time to keep...

    NO eggs. why?

We live in Oklahoma. We moved ours indoors to a heated shed and they are still laying. The eggs slacked off a bit during the fall molt but it's back to normal now. About to start our second hatch of the Winter since our first hatch was 22 males and 9 females (ebay eggs). We had a little over 40...

    ordering from JMF

Those of you who have ordered from JMF... is it better to just call and order? I sent an email to the address listed on the website but haven't gotten a reply back yet. Just curious which others have used.

    Hatching quail with a chicken

Watching with interest and hoping you have 2 males and 2 females. This is a cool experiment that I would never dare to try unless it was absolutely necessary.

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

I have both my bantam buff mixes that decided to go broody so I bought silkie eggs and both girls have been sitting them. Yesterday we saw 3 hatched. Not sure if others are under the mamas or not. Do they need a waterer right in the nest with them or is the water right outside the nest close...
