hi all. my hen has only been laying eggs these days with holes in them... can anyone help? or is it just the end of an era for her.
thanks in advance

Need to offer calcium for her to produce healthy shells. Either oyster shell or finely crushed eggshells in their dustbath is what I do.

i give her her shells back every time i boil the eggs and she has cuttle fish.. maybe i should grind up the cuttle fish and put it through the food also, do you think this will work?

thanks

How old is she? what is she fed on? do you only have the one hen, I take it the damage is done as she laid it and not after? it is difficult to tell looking at the pic, does she appear well otherwise?

I feed her seed and high protein crumble mix as well as veggies and grass when i can, she is on her own sadly we just lost most of our new hatch due to humidity issues, probably about 6 -10 months old.
At first i thought it was after it had been laid as the hole always appeared to be on the bottom so i have put heaps of stuff in her dust bath, now I'm not so sure, it doesn't look at all like she pecks it so it must be already like that or maybe it does happen when its laid and hits the ground. It happens about every 2/3 eggs
