My silkie x broody hen has six 1 week old chicks but their just in a big dog box.can I put them in the chicken coop with the flock.the mother hen is in the Middle of the pecking order
The chick is happy with its mom now and is trying to keep up with its brothers and sisters.Im going to call him/her hope because it was basically dead when i was taking it out of the egg and even though it was so weak he never gave up.
This is my moma hen with her five chicks.Three of her eggs didnt hatch and one needed help out of the egg so i have her/him in "intensive care" in the incubator.Fingers crossed it will survive.
This is my silkie x broody. She has nine eggs underneath her.The eggs are currently starting to hatch and I'll post pics of her with them in a couple of hours.
She is getting on well.Today she walked outside for the first time since her attack. She hasn't started laying yet so egg peritonitis isn't affecting her.The vet gave me some ointments, creams and painkillers to give her for the next 2 weeks and then I'll bring her back for a check up.

About 4 hours when I last turned my eggs my bator was at 98.6 degrees but now it's gone up to 104 degrees.I turned it down and stabilised it again but I'm wondering will they still be viable.
P.S they eggs are only on day one
I know if you cross a rhode Island red or New Hampshire red rooster with a light Sussex hen you will get gold comet chicks but what happens if you cross the other way around,a Rhode Island red hen with a light Sussex rooster.
I give them cuttlebones, oyster shell, broken up egg shells, fresh boiled chicken eggs from my own chickens and a tiny bit of cod live oil.I have the nest box high up in the cage but they wonT seem to go in it.
