So I have asked multiple chicken people and local hatcheries and all have come back with different answers. Need help as none of my feathered friends have been sick previously.
I have a buckeye hen who is still laying, but she is bare bottomed and has almost no tail feathers left (her oil...
My problem: The hens (the RIR are the culprits 75% of the time) are bullying two of my hens until they hunch in submission. My one Dom has taken to roosting on top of the treats I have piled on top of the nest boxes and my Buckeye walks around with her wings over her back hiding her bald spots-...
Need some experienced help. I am new to the breed, so I need some assurances that the 4 Doms I wintered are females. I have trouble seeing the barring colors clearly and I was told that was the best way to sex them.

Still waiting...so far my EE pullet, Alfreda is bossing him around and he's submitting. He doesn't seem to stand up for himself and absolutely no crowing, so maybe he's waiting to make himself heard? lol
100 percent sure lol. Green feathers around the neck and tail and pointed feathers check. Extra large comb, check. It would b like me tho to have an oddball. Best pics I have of him atm
was concerned bc her comb is brightervthan my other ee. Hoping so...my one confirmed rir roo hasnt crowed yet at 15 weeks, so im not sure how long to wait. I understand that is unusual? He just makes the same sounds as the hens.
The vid should be working now...settings were set to private rather than unlisted. I run a dogsledding channel on youtube and was trying to separate chicken videos so that wouldn't show up next to the dogs lol. I will try the egg and see if it helps. I'm starting to wander if what I'm seeing...
After much anticipation, we picked up our new batch of day old chicks Monday. They were lively but a little tired from their hatch. Tuesday showed them playful and alert. Today, it seems I will lose one of my Buckeyes. This chick is lethargic, slow heart rate, droopy wings, panting...
Those are Buckeyes. We are new to both breeds and are giving them a try, but so far the doms are prolly going to stick around. They are so curious, outgoing, and fun.
