My Silkies peeped INCESSANTLY after they hatched, from the minute that they hatched. It was cute, unless you were trying to sleep! lol As long as their water, food and lighting was good, I just considered them to be mouthy. I do want to throw in my two cents though and recommend that you put...
I had a ball python that didn't eat for the better part 6 months. I tried, repeatedly, to feed her mice. The mice bit her a few times and, while it upset me, I never once thought that the mice were in the wrong! lol
Regardless, I finally talked to someone that held a bit of wisdom and learned...
Okay, I apparently "misremembered" what my guinea eggs looked like when I hatched them and, after visiting a few sites, I have found that these may be guinea eggs in my bator and not Silkie!! How the heck can I tell? Maybe that's why they are not being incubated by a momma. Don't guineas like...
Ooohh...beautiful roo!!
I have Silkies and I had no problems with them this winter. It was our first winter and apparently I did okay, as I had no casualties.
Can anyone explain to me how I have FOUR Silkie roosters and just two hens, but the eggs that I am getting are not fertilized...
Aaahh! I just found FOUR more eggs over next to the coop!! They were laid under the tire of a bicycle that had been knocked over! Three of them were like cold little stones, but they went into the bator too. What the heck?! lol
So dh and I took a quick trip down to rent a movie and when we got back, the Guineas were going crazy. I let them go for a little while and then decided to go out and check on them. I was a bit nervous, as they were all (all 4 Guineas) in the coop and my Araucauna roo was lying in the corner...
Hello all! How is the start of this spring treating you? I know my chickens and guineas are happy; they are everywhere!!
I was wondering if there may be anyone "near to" the Watkins Glen area that may have a few hens that they would consider getting rid of/selling? I have come to learn that...
Amy - one of my last hatches (I think it was my silkies) ALL hatched in the middle of the egg. I panicked when the first one started, but it made it okay. Then they all did it and there were no problems. Good luck!
$70 is cheap for a pair of peacocks? I will have to remember that, when we decide to get some. I haven't made a final decision about the ducks yet. I would have preferred a younger pair, but... I may end up getting them, just because I feel bad for my 9yo son. Of course, if they aren't able...
@Taj: Well, I couldn't get through by phone, so I texted and I don't like how it turned out. The peacocks are about 1.5 years old and they want $70 for the pair. Is that high? They want $25 for the pair of ducks. They aren't sure how old they are, but they do know that they are adults. They...
Ancona: I may just take you up on that, should I not figure something out between now and then. I feel horrible for my 9yo, as he was so excited about the hatching. I warned him repeatedly, but that didn't matter.
I hope you all are enjoying this little thaw that we are having. I know my...
Those ducks are adorable!!
If anyone has any idea where I can get some Indian Runner ducklings in my area (Watkins Glen, but I am willing to drive), I would love some help. My 9yo is devastated right now, as I bought 20 eggs for him as a gift. During the incubation, my incubator completely...
My silkies are quiet and 4 of the 5 are roosters! And, now that you mention it, they don't roost either. They also cuddle all together in the coop! lol I guess that the level of noise from the birds will just vary with the attitudes!
Okay, if anyone knows where I can get my hands on some ducklings, preferably Indian Runners, I would greatly appreciate it. For some reason, I just cleaned all but two of the eggs out of my incubator and I don't think that the two that I left are going to be fruitful. It stinks, as they were...
I should say that I have 4, but I am having a hard time deciding which to get rid of, as I think they are all adorable! lol I have chosen this one, as there are two grays and two black roosters, and this is my lessor favorite of the two gray ones. I have yet to make a choice with the black...
I am just outside of Watkins Glen, up towards Reading Center. Well, if you want a silkie roo, I have 4! My one, single, poor, little hen is NOT enjoying it either. I really need to get her away from so many of them! They were hatched here over the fourth of July weekend, so he is just 6...
