    At the same time though you don't want to over do the protein or they will molt cause its too much. In Australia all chicken fanciers and owners use cracked corn but in the US it may be a bit different. Thats ok though.

    In Australia this breed is rare. I own a flock but it took me 2 years to put it together traveling far and wide to find them. They sell for a very good price and are the best chickens I ever had.

    Try them on some straight cracked corn in cooler months as this is considered a hot food with lots of protein which is needed to produce an egg. There are foods that are hot and cold to chickens. Protein high foods are HOT food for chickens and will keep them going in cooler months till spring...

    A pure bred is a rooster and hen of the same breed who have no cross breeding. Say you have a buff whose parents were buff and leghorns. Thats a cross. Pure bred means no cross breed the pure breed line. You can post them up here anyway and I will take a look :)
