Thank you. Unfortunately, he passed away a few minutes ago. I opened the egg a bit more and found that parts of him were underdeveloped. It had gotten shrink wrapped and I don't believe it was going to make it anyways, unfortunately :(
...towel and put it back. The other ducklings pecked at it and it bled more, so I put them in the brooder and left this one alone. It isn't absorbing *any* of its blood. I've never had this happen before. It's more active but no veins are receding at all. The membrane got stuck so I separated it...
Thought I'd update. Decided to recandled the eggs just in case. I estimated the age based on one egg I'd candled, which is apparently just rotten. I only candled it briefly when she was still on her nest so I didn't have time to check for more movement, and I guess I mistook the yolk moving for...
Thank you, I think that's what we'll do. Of the chicken eggs start to rot I'll just replace them. They have free run of our backyard but we had no idea she could get under our house until this happened!
Hey guys, so our duck started secretly incubating a nest under some stairs in our backyard and we didn't find them until recently, as she was going up with our other ducks at night and would play in the yard when we were out there. I candled all 8 of them when we found them to see how far along...
I do! She actually has grown up beautifully. She grew a bit faster than our other babies but she slowed down as she got bigger. She's the same size as the others her age and just as active!
Hey guys, I let my broody hen, Mushu, incubate some duck eggs and they hatched today (three days early)! We had another hen, Nala, going on and off broody, and she would try to go help Mushu incubate her eggs. Mushu would let her sit on a couple, then take them back once Nala was done. Nala did...
Thank you so much. My manager just suggested that I make a thin paste from starter grow to see if that helps too. I'm down to try anything for this baby at this point. I appreciate the support and I'll update tomorrow after work
Hey guys, so I went to a feed store today and noticed a dead-looking chick in their brooder being stepped all over. The employees got her out and let me take her home since they couldn't do anything about it. I've had her home for two hours now. She can't pick her head up or stand and seems to...
We've had blood in two eggs and I'm beginning to wonder if they were fertilized somehow. Is my chicken sick if these are all hens? The blood spot wasn't like a normal meat spot. It was bright red blood. I wish I'd gotten a picture first.
