Thank you! This was helpful. I believe it is a pullet as well now. I'm not seeing any other signs of a rooster. Just the long tail feathers and the comb is the same as the other two.
When mine are mean or aggressive they go to one out in the dog kennel. They haven't been mean since.
I ended up taking it back to place i got it at this afternoon. They didn't see any Spurs or pointed neck feathers or any signs of a rooster. The long tail feathers are weird though. Giving it another week or two to see if it starts crowing.
Mines butt feathers look like the ones on the RIR you posted a pic of. The rest of the stuff just doesn't look like a rooster so idk what to do......so this should be a pullet? I mean it's comb and wattles have barely started growing in.
But the other one doesn't even have tail feathers like this one. She looks completely like a hen/pullet. Where would I get a no crow collar? I'll definitely try both those options to see if they're roosters. What do the little buds by their toes look like
I'll probably have to look for the little buds near the toes or do the vent sexing. I'm not allowed to have roosters where I live so that's not an option. I have seen it stick it's feathers up on its neck with another chick I have but they both do it and only do it when they fly into each other
What breed is this? Is it a roo or a pullet? It's tail feathers are very long compared to the other two. It only have brown in the neck area and the rest is black.
Another pic -he's the middle one
I have noticed a lot of feathers laying on ground in their box lately. Could it be the early molt? So it could not be a roo? What do you mean by light barring and darker barring?
Thank you! Id really appreciate it. I'm attached to these little ones and they follow me everywhere. It would be so hard to give him up if he's a roo. I'm never ended up with a too so I don't know how to tell. He just looks so different than the other two.
The tail feathers are pretty straight on this one they're just really long. The other two don't have tail feathers like that but they're all starting to get red in the comb and wattles.
