Hi Folks,
We have 2 girls who are bloody around they’re butts and have no tail feathers left,
Is anyone using some kind of cover up/garment to protect their rear ends?
Things have not gotten any better for this chick, it’s been 2 weeks...I’m wondering what the long term of this situation is...has anyone had a chick grow to full grown with this and manage or do I cull? She seems to be able to eat and drink do we just keep up with the treatments?
Ok I’ll stop the selenium...I made her scrambled which she ate over the course of the day and the vitamin e&b1...should I spread out the dose of E over a few applications? Or all in one session?
Thx
We are giving her most of a Vitamin E capsule 2-3 times a day and roughly 25 mcg of selenium 2-3 times a day, also we have been adding electrolytes in her water (pedialyte)
Hey Folks,
So we are 5 days into the vitamin treatment with our wry neck chick and we are not seeing much improvement, any idea how long it takes or is it just a case of it'll take as long as it takes.
Thx
I picked up the vitamin E and B1 then some pedialyte for electrolytes and a separate brooder setup...I had to drive to a different state for the selenium but I found it...no cvs around here had it, so we have 2 doses in her and she looks settled in for now, I gave her a room mate for the night...
Im heading out to the feed store today when they open at 9, Thx for your help! would you all suggest I separate her from the rest? I read that on one of the threads, which means a second brooder tank and light...etc, which is fine, just want to be sure its needed, I guess she could get trampled...
Yes in hind sight locked is a bit extreme, she can move it out of the angle that is tilted but it seems to keep going back to the same position...Ill get a pic...
Thx
We picked up 8 chicks last Wednesday and all has seemed fine until tonight, my wife noticed one of the girls head is locked in a slight tilt? she seems to be eating, drinking and pooping ok...is this something or are we being paranoid, she is an Americauna. Thanks in advance.

I guess it’s 50ft I could bury an outside line...but it’s the digging that’s my problem, I’m in MA so it’s all granite rocks everywhere I put a shovel in the ground, I didn’t realize those waterers took that much juice. Thx
Hi Folks,
What have you all decided on for a small solar setup for you're coops, I'm in the process of building a new coop and want to run a solar setup thru the winter if I can for just a heated waterer instead of running an extension cord across the yard again.
Thx
I have a 4yr old RI Red who I noticed this morning was not walking much, when standing her tail feathers are sloped down towards the ground, her belly feels a bit bloated (at least compared to her sister) and is breathing heavily and slowly....could she be egg bound? She's one of 12 so I have no...
I have a question for you experienced folks...
I have hens for eggs 2+ yrs now and also raised turkeys last year for the holidays feasts...I'm ready to start with chickens for meat...my local feed store only offers what they call broilers .....looks like a basic white rock-ish looking bird...is...
