    My local feed store has white pekins for sale. My lovely daughters are BEGGING daddy to allow them to get one each. I looked over the site here for some advice on raising ducks but haven't really found what I was looking for. Can someone who has raised ducks please help? I have 30 chickens...

    RIR chick not feathering out.

    This is totally normal. I have raised quite a few RIR's. In addition I have raised Buff Orps, Barred Rocks, Brown Leghorns and Gold Laced Wyandottes and the RIR's are ALWAYS the last to feather out. Not sure why that is but it is normal. Good luck !

    I feed my 6 chicken's a handful of scratch each day but they waste the cracked corn in it. They barely eat any of it. Is there an alternative that any of you feed them that you can buy at the feed store ? Like whole oats or crimped oats ? What is crimped oats ? Thanks !

    I got 29 new chicks today !!!! I got 6 Buff Orp Hens, 6 Golden Laced Wyandottes and 6 Brown Leghorns I also got 10 Cornish X meaties and a Golden Laced Wyandotte Rooster !!! I'm wicked excited !

    I just read in a recent journal that horses that feed on grass that chickens are pooping on are very susceptible to various serious ailments from the poop. Just thought you should know. I'll try to find you the link. I've moved my two horses to a different pasture as a result of what I read.

    dumb question....what is a chook ? I know it is a chicken but does it refer to the chicken being a hen or rooster or either ? Sorry, I have seen that alot lately but dont know exactly what it means.
