Eggs received today!
I am just wondering if the bad luck with your hatching shipped eggs was in part some of the eggs I shipped to you. The above quote of eggs recieved is the last contact I have had concerning the eggs I shipped. These eggs should have been Christmas...
I have also had really bad luck with shipped eggs and those that hatch are usually cockerals. I'm wanting to begin by own breeding program and have been trying for a year and a half but do to these poor hatch rates I haven't been successful.

I have noticed some people selling buckeyes have strains with combs other than pea combs. Is there a rose comb genetic in the buckeye breed or should I stay away from these breeders? Most of them seem to have lines from names I have seen on this thread but I want to make sure I am getting...
Still looking for good quality delaware and buckeye chicks to expand my flocks. I'm hoping to have enough to begin hatching/sellling next spring. If you have either of these I am interested.
I'm currently trying to expand my flocks of buckeyes and delawares. I have culled everything in my poultry yard that I am not breeding and would like to be ready for selling chicks in the spring. If you have either of these two breeds I am interested in eggs or day old chicks.
I just recently hatched 4 out of 20 silkie eggs that had the same problem. Not a good hatch rate but considering they were all "scrambled" from shipping I was happy.
The Weston Price foundation has done a lot of studies on soy and I personally do not use it at all in my feed. I feed an organic soy free feed to my birds. You can go to their website and get the information but I will try to sum it up fairly quickly. I have studied naturopathic medicine and...
I agree that starting with breeding stock would be the best way to go. For me the issue is paying $5 per egg for good stock and then not have any hatch due to bad Post Office shipping. I have excellent hatch rates with my own eggs so I know it isn't necessarily my incubating methods. If I...
I'm looking for Delawares and Buckeyes.
I do let the eggs set for at least 8 hours. I usually pick them up in the morning aroun 7 AM then set them between 7 and 9 PM that evening. This used to never be a problem.
I would like to add I have had good experience with hatcheries but it is random. One of my buckeye roosters I got from meyer turned out just like the ones I have from serious breeders; however, I ordered pullet buckeyes from Ideal and their coloring is off. I received a white rock male from...
I personally prefer to get my chicks/eggs from breeders; however, this is becoming difficult with certain breeds that are more rare. My question is if I were to order 50-100 chicks from a hatchery, would my chances of getting some birds that would be high enough quality to begin breeding be...
I would order some; however, the last three batches of eggs I have ordered have come in and their air cells had detached from the egg and was floating around. You don't happen to sell chicks do you?
The last several batches of eggs I have received in the mail have had the air cells moving around in the egg. I did a search but couldn't find any info regarding this problem. Is it possible these eggs could still develop and hatch? I place them in the bator last night and was going to candle...
I'm looking for delaware and buckeye day old chicks. I am trying to acquire 3 bloodlines of each of these two breeds so I can begin selling in my local area and online early next year. Also, if you are aware of a hatchery that tends to keep higher quality stock of these two breeds I would be...
I have also found this to be interesting. I get some very oblong/pointy eggs but not necessarily consistent. I am working on a breeder pen and when it is done I am going to put a trap nest in there to track which hens lay them and if they are consistent. Might be the end of the summer before...
