Thanks for the advise. Managed to get a decent amount of water into it.
However unfortunately it died a few minutes ago.... think it must have been an infection. Thanks for your help again
Thanks again. Appreciate your help. I dont want this chick to suffer for no reason. But jave actually become a little attached and learnt its personality after giving it so much care. But i cant be selfish either so its hard
Just checked it now at first thought it was dead as it was so still...
Thanks wyorp rock. It has been about 36 hours now..... please note black stuff is dried yolk. The pink/orange on the side is an intestine before we pushed it back in. Will the black yolk drop off?
Just dont know if i can bring myself to culling it!....
Thanks, see pics below. Bit hard to get a proper pic but noticed its intestines are also hanging out.... we managed to get these back in all the way. Any suggestions on what to use to hold them in place?
So had a few chicks hatch in an incubator yesterday and day before. All are fine except one unzipped half way and stopped. 8 hours later it was the same so i quickly got it out and put it in a smaller incubator. I found it was glued in hard. Wrapped it in damp paper towel and it manged to get...
Few hours later qnd we now have 10 chicks out! Here i was thinking i had ruined the hatch. 11th not sure if its gonna hatch or not, last candle it was fully developed so will give it a few more hours. Last chick to hatch was about 12 hours ago, now on day 23.
And 12 egg was never fertile. At the...
Little update for everyone who has helped out!
6 chicks out! One i was worried about i ended up helping and glad i did, when i candled the egg found it hadn't pipped the cell air(was wrong position in egg, had pipped wrong spot) started helping and it was sure ready to come out all veins etc had...
Second chick out! And it came from the really porous egg that had a big air cell, so hoping means the rest can get out.
3 more with external pips including one that was pipped last night (11hours total) i know they can take 24 hours. But the hatched chicks have rolled him over snd i can see him...
Thanks for the replies, will give that a go.
First chick out! A few hours short of 21 days, and its a vocal one haha. Wont stop doing the loud call chirp, i guess thats a good sign.
One more with an external pip so hopefully in a few hours it will have some friends.
Thanks guys! 1 external pip! But is a different egg to the one that we saw rocking last night, so hoping the other one is still okay.....
Also really struggling with humidity it isnt going above 50-55% and its so full the water is leaking out the holes around the side of the incubator.
Also the...
Next lot of questions.
Because mu humidity would have been lower then normal in incubation should i still knock it up to the normal 65% for lockdown?
Is it possible for chicks to shrink wrap before internal pip?
I have 1 egg rocking! That mean internal pip or just getting ready to internal pip...
Thanks Ridgerunner! Bought the egss so not sure exactly how long they were stored. One is quite porous and it has a larger air cell.
Just realised i have made the worse mistake in my hatching history.
At about day 6 or 7 i noticed the humidity was around the high/mid 40's so didnt add water...
Just put the eggs into lockdown. Noticed some air cells are on the bigish and others are quite small (so much that it was hard to see the dip in the air cell) any idea why this may be the case? It is a fan forced incubator.
Also suggestions for humidity during lockdown, just not sure as the air...
I have 12 chicken eggs in the incubator they are up to day 16, 11 started forming 1 was infertile. It is nearly 2 years since my last hatch and have forgotten more then i thought when it comes to hatching eggs.
We candled them tonight. There are a number of eggs that i cant decide are bacteria...
Had a closer look.... the top half of the beak has gone...... to about half way, it can still drink but not sure about it, please tell me it will grow back, already lost enough from this batch, and yes it is a male, is it is crowing..... Please help, should it be separate or was it the lizard...
