Just reading over the comments and I don't think he would have been trying to breed her since it was late at night. So far the drake is doing ok. Walked around here for about a week quacking for her. I am currently looking for another hen that someone will let me have, that does not live too far...
We only had 2 ducks. a peking hen and a WH drake. last night we heard a commission. when we checked we found the hen in distress in her pen. we took her inside and tried to revive her. she coughed up about a cup of water and her belly was wet but not her back. she died shortly after. the only...
We had a similar thing happen to us this past spring. Our broody hen kept getting in the wrong box. Had to put her back on the eggs several times. Some of the times I am not sure how long she had been off them. Were cold to the touch but out of 15, 13 hatched.
well our bantum phoenix hen just went broody today. kinda surprised since she's a hatchery bird and is only 7 mo old. gave her a few eggs to see how she does. hopefully she'll stick it out.
I have a set of ply wood nest boxes that are already there and we think we might have an egg eater. I was wanting to know how hard it would be to add a roll away box under it. The boxes are about 8 or so inches off the ground and open to the coop. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a standard one as well and listed in the buy sale trade thread. If anyone interested. Pics of the bantam in post #3310, Looks the same just standard size.
This guy is free to good home. Silver Wing Phoenix roo. 7 months old. beautiful bird. Wanting to find him a home so I don't have to put him in the freezer. Please let me know is interested.
Also have white Yokohama roo as well. Same age.
Ok Thurs afternoon my boys called me and told me that one of the ducks had a BB in its bill. I was not sure what they were talking about so I run home to check it out. When I looked at him he had a BB stuck in his bill. It was close to the end and was a little to the side. Was not the happiest...
Ok 1 of our girls laid a egg that was obvious a double yoke egg. Well when I cracked it open to cook this is what I found.
They are together. Like you have with conjoined twins. Had the same about of white as for just one. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this? The girl that laid this has...
she's a barnyard jumble. got a lot of game bird in her though. our roo is a oeg he's black which explains why we have 11 black chicks and a white one. the little white one's dad was probably a cornish cross roo with our partridge cochin, or buff brahma roo and one of the hens. he's feather...
Up date I put the dust in the places where they already dust bathe in the sand. Done it one day then repeated about 3 days later there were gnats everywhere but not on the little ones. It's supposed to rain really hard tonight so I will probably need to do it again when the weather clears.
After the few days of rain stopped I used the powder, put it in the places that they already dust bathe in so they did all the hard work for me. It's been only a few days and as of yesterday they were good. Put some more out in the chicks pin today. I had done the same or the adults but it...
Ok I live here in south Alabama and am some serious problem with the small gnats. I am going to try a few things and let you guys know how they work. I'm starting with, Hi-Yield brand Garden, Pet and Livestock Dust. Will be dusting the brooder, chick pin and all of the 4 week old chicks. Not...
I live in south Alabama and I knew they were bad just not how bad till I was working out side and found 3 dead chicks from them. I brought the rest into the house and they are using the spare bedroom for now till I can find something that will work to get rid of them. I wonder if a bug light...
