    I have eaten duck eggs for years and some dirtier than your pictures and have been just fine. I wash them off in warm water and then just fix them however I want to eat them.

    A drake will also chase a hen off of the nest so that the hen will be available for mating and not tending to ducklings. They do not want the eggs to hatch as it will interfere with their access to be able to mate with the hen.
