I think Miss Lydia finally got her internet back. I was so happy to see her on here and you too!!! My hubby was recently diagnosed with prediabetes and his number was 114. It has never gotten higher than that and when he watches everything he eats stays below 100. Wow Frank, 400! That...
So sorry you lost so many. I had a trash panda actually dig up one that I had pass about a month ago from being I believe egg bound. By the time I figured it out it was too late. He dug her up and hauled her to a neighbors yard after she had been in the ground for a week! I have not had any...
Mine actually never hide. They have 7 pens from TSC and a 10 X10 dog kennel to roam in. With that much space for 25 of them they all seem happy to be hanging with their besties. lol
My two little Calls that I hatched out of their eggs personally scream whenever I go outside. It's really bad at 5am when I am leaving for work. My neighbors are great about it but it embarasses me.lol
I have eaten duck eggs for years and some dirtier than your pictures and have been just fine. I wash them off in warm water and then just fix them however I want to eat them.
I am hoping they are wrong about this winter. They have been wrong before. Where I am at we have not had any rain for quite a while and the leaves are falling dead off of the trees. We're predicted rain for tomorrow and this week so hopefully we will get some as the other predictions before...
A drake will also chase a hen off of the nest so that the hen will be available for mating and not tending to ducklings. They do not want the eggs to hatch as it will interfere with their access to be able to mate with the hen.
You will more than likely not have any issues with over mating until next spring. Then is when they will be old enough for problems to arrise should you have 3 males and one female. If you do not want eggs, you could possibly rehome the female and keep an all drake flock which works out well...
I have been following along. Good luck with your move and animals my friend. It will be an adjustment but I am sure you will do just fine. May God watch over you and your family.
I bought barrier sections on Amazon and from our local Sam's Club that I pounded into the ground all the way around my coops to keep anything from digging under. So far so good. The ones from Sam's club cost more but were a lot heavier and stronger than the Amazon ones. It ended up being...
Oh how Cute they are!!! I have 6 Call Ducks in with all of my flock and they are the littles that I love so much. My ratio is off with them as I have 3 males and 3 females but my males also go after my bigger ducks so it has worked out well. I had a black bibbed one but gave it away because...
This is what my little Mallard hatches out also. I have learned after finding out that the hen determines the sex of the ducklings not to ever let her hatch anything out ever again. Out of 35 ducklings over the years, 33 drakes and 2 hens! My little Call Duck just gave me 2 hens that I...
