Yeah, nuts!
I can't tell what happened.
There's a lot feathers all over the place.
No signs of trauma at all, but most of the feathers on his breast are gone - nearly bare.
Any ideas?
Any ideas on what to do with him now?
Need to get better pics of them individually.
Pecker looks like he's going to be quite handsome.
I think he's a roo - acts like it.
Dyllis was crowing his first weak little teenager crow this morning.
It was cute and cool, but pretty much signals his impending departure.
And finally out of the dining room! \\o/
But what are they?
What's Scarlet?
What's Peep?
What's Brownie?
What's Pecker (the middle arrow)?
What's Hershey and Godiva? Are they really the Marans I paid for?
OK! Here it is!
Ta-Daaaah!
Kinda happy with the results, but it does look like orcs helped me with the framing.
Never built anything like that - EVER.
I took every bit of advice I got here on BYC and that's what you all designed!
Next is the run, pop hole, steps, and paint - whew!!!
Peep...
Seems like all the hubbub has died down and everybody's getting comfortable.
I just went out to feed them and was very surprised to see that they all came over to get a little petting.
Or maybe they instincually know what a door is and just wanted out!
Either way, they got some petting.
Phyllis...
Actually, no - not a lot of mocking around here.
I just finished mine today (minus paint and run), and I wish I had been more on the ball with the coop.
The general rule is 4sf per chicken in the coop and 10sf per chick in the run.
The space you've alotted for the run is plenty big enough.
If...
Holy moly!
At long last, our poor chickens are finaly off the dining room table and into their new home.
Still got to build the run and paint everything, but they were getting way too cramped in the Sterilite brooders.
And, we were way too over the chicken dust!
I'm curious to see if the kids'...
Oh yeah, they can bite like the devil - don't get me wrong!
See those fat cheeks?
They're hiding a lot of muscle geared specifically for chomping.
The one at the zoo had been in captivity all its life, so she was pretty cool with whatever.
If you find him again and wanna give it a shot, go get...
That is too cute - I want it.
I used to tend to a possum when I worked at the zoo - soooo soft and snuggly!
Quick bath in baby shampoo will knock that stink right off.
Probably my favorite varmint.
Although, one hasn't wrecked any of my junk yet. ^_~
He's a little more bright eyed today - not really seeming sluggish at all.
Dunno if the Sulmet helped, or if it was a false alarm.
Anyway, I'm glad to have that stuff on hand.
The coop is just a lacking a door, and then out they go!
It'll be another little while before the run is complete, tho.
Well, when just checked on them, they were all huddled up sleeping.
I could still his the skin on his back where his wings were drooping, so I went ahead and medicated.
If it turns out to be nothing, the Sulmet won't have any ill effects, will it?
I got some plain yogurt just case - medicine...
Ah, right on...
I got a fire pit too - i was wondering what to do with the ashes.
So how much DE do you use in a typical treatment.
Is there such a thing as too much?
Or do you just kinda throw some in there?
How about a dust bath recipes?
That might be a good topic!
Uh ho, I remember the little roo(?) CM/BR seeming to have droopy wings before I left home!
He was sitting on the feeder with his lower eyelid kinda up - squinty.
"Puffed up" as in all ruffledy (like, if they were cold), or "puffed up" as in bloated (like, me after Thanksgiving - all fat and kinda in distress).
Thanks!
