Three of my five hens have gone broody. How can I fix this? All three of them will sit in the nesting box all day unless I pick them up and put them outside. Then they will run around for a little while then return back to the nesting box.
I built a coop for my chickens then I put a perch outside the coop for them. Now the only one who uses the coop is the hen that's laying. She only goes in there to lay her eggs then she walks back out, all of them sleep on the perch. So, are coops really needed? I have been considering taking...
We added two more hens to our flock. Just don't know what breed they are. Any help would be appreciated! The white has already laid two eggs one on the way home after picking her up and another one today. They are small white eggs.
The egg was only a few days old. As for the link I just googled pink egg whites. I looked at three or four links and the all said it was a bacteria. I have no clue if that's what it actually is or not. The bacteria is on the egg itself. Caused by tiny cracks in the shell.
Ummm….this freaked me out a little. Our girl has laid approximately 1 1/2-2 dozen eggs. This is the first time this has happened, she has laid eggs after this one and they were fine. I threw away both eggs in the pan because I didn't know if it was safe to eat.
I had to put mine in the coop. I came home from work one night and they were all huddled together in the corner on top of the coop. So I grabbed them one by one and put them in the coop. I just did it that one night and they go in there on their own now.
Finished the coop for now. I was going to just leave the back wall off and use the garage wall. But there's a decent size gap so I'll eventually put on a back wall. I have videos of it in the run but I can't load them from my phone. I'll add them tomorrow.
Thank you! The reason we have three roosters is because the wife's aunt brought them home. I want to get more hens and I will most likely end up getting rid of at least two roosters. Thanks again!!
I have five chicks, First pair: Pollito (head rooster), Pollita (hen), Third chick: Stew aka Baby (rooster), Second pair: Pot Pie (rooster), Brownie (hen) .
I got them at different times, I got the first two in October, the third one in November and the last two last week. Stew and Pollito...
