So a little over a week ago, my 11 ducks were attacked by 4-5 dogs. They killed 7 of my ducks, leaving 1 male and 3 females alive. The surviving male had no injuries whatsoever, 2 females have limps now (one runs sideways, like a crab, now to get away from me if I walk into the pen) and the last...
Hello all! I purchased 17 chicks from Tractor Supply on Monday. They were trying to get rid of them so they could prepare for their new shipment. Anyways, I know I bought 6 Leg horns, but the other 2 breeds I'm not sure. One came from the bin marked straight run, Rhode Island Red and the other...
I wish I could free range. Still waiting for my husband to get the supplies we need to build a fence around the property, then I can let them free range and then be able to put them in the pen at night.
So.. the last time I was here, I had a few chickens and a few ducks. All my chickens were killed by 2 dogs from down the road and my baby ducks were killed as well. For a while I had just ducks and one had some babies. I had 13 ducks up until yesterday, when I took a male to my sister in law. So...
Well, my baby chick passed away during the night. I dont know what happened. I tried feeding it yesterday and im not sure if it just didnt want to after being rejected from the duck's nest or what.
So my sister in law brought me a surprise this morning. Her duck hatched this little chicken and then pushed it out of the nest and wouldnt let it back in. So my sister in law saved it and brought it to me. It is maybe a day old, but no older.
Thank you. They dont make much noise, so I wasn't sure. We were thinking roos, but they haven't been crowing or maybe not even trying... im not sure lol. Im hoping for roos though.
For sure the father is either a barred rock or a Dominecker. The chicks have small red spots on their wings and their tail feathers look like they have a green tint to them.
Im not too sure. I know for sure their dad is a Barred Rock. Their feathers on their wings are coming in black and white like a Barred Rock. So we shall see what they end up looking like. I have a chicken out in the big pen that looks like a barred rock except for her chest and face, which are...
They are all doing really good! They are eating and drinking and peeping all the time haha. We love them! One of the little chickens has red around its eyes so it looks mad all the time haha.
