I've been holding onto 3 black sex linked chicks for someone and now the decided they don't have room for them.
They are 9 weeks old.
Two females and one roo.
Please let me know if you are interested in them. I don't mind just selling off the pullets.
I can give you at least a weeks supply...
I have a Speckled Sussex that had a very enlarged crop and was doing the odd head shaking thing. Her crop was soft and she did have a bad smell to her breath.
When I picked her up a little stinky fluid came up.
After some online research I decided not to turn her over to expel the fluid...
Little off chicken topic here… I'm looking for a bunny to add to our family.
I'm not looking for anything "fancy" just a pet rabbit for my kids. We are not interested in breeding or showing so we don't want to pay top dollar.
Does anyone know of someone who may have what we are looking for...
Does anyone know if a Black Copper Maran roster can produce offspring that lays dark eggs?
I received a barn yard mix. A rooster was a BCM so the off spring will be a cross breed.
I have 13 week olds that are showing signs of being a BCM mix.
Just curious. Can't wait for eggs. (Hopefully I...
Any one want to take a stab at what gender I'm looking at?
I labeled the photos and numbered the chicken left to right.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!
Photo 1 Unknown mix
Photo 2-- #1 looks like a EE Rooster #2 is from photo 1 unknown mix #3 EE Pullet?
Photo 3 #1 Maran mix #2...
I feel so foolish… My days were off. My chicks totally knew when they were ready, unfortunately I did not.
Thanks for the advice.
Just to update...
Two have hatched and the 3rd that I saw no movement in just pipped.
Well this afternoon will be day 19 and we had two eggs externally pip late last night.
Not much progress but chirping away. So all sounds good.
Humidity is at 62-64% I'd like it to be higher.
I filled all the ports with water and I even have a small dish.
Today is day 18 for the eggs my Silkie abandon. She sat for about 12 hours on 6 eggs and then gave up. I put them in the incubator to try to save them. One cracked, another infertile, and a third quit early. I just candled the remaining three. One may be lost and the other two have pipped...
Ok I have a problem...
I have had a really broody silkie for weeks now.
I broke down today and gave her 5 eggs to hatch.
She immediately sat on them for a few hours like a good mom.
The local chicken authority told me it shouldn't be any trouble having her nest in the coop with my other 3...
Thanks for all the guesses. This was so much fun for my 1st hatch.
I do realize that my # 5 & 6 chiks are a mix breed due to the fact we do not have a Ameraucana roo.
Plus when you get a barn yard mix you never really know what is going to pop up. :)
I plan on keeping at least one roo so I...
Here are 8 babies we hatched on January 24th. this was our 1st hatch and it was so much fun.
We picked up the fertile eggs from a local farm, they are a real barnyard mix.
Just for fun I would love some opinions on the breed and sex of the babies.
Here is what I know: The Roosters are a French...
9 out of 13 hatched from my mixed eggs. Of the 4 remaining 2 died prior to pip and the jury is still out on two.
One chick has a slipped tendon in a leg. We are keeping an eye on her.
This was my 1st hatch and I had no idea how emotional this is.
I did remove him. It is only one leg and the joint is swollen with a small open sore. From all my online research it doesn't look good. I saw a video where they manipulate the leg straight and bandage it. But I think this cutie is in trouble. It's too bad because he is full of life. I'm at a...
This egg hatched about an hour ago and it seems like he has a slipped tendon.
He is not using the leg/foot but is trying his best to move about the incubator.
Do I remove him and try to manipulate the tendon back into place or leave the incubator closed until the others hatch?
I am a nervous...
