Do you think I should withhold food for a 2nd day? I feel hesitant to do so, especially since she's on an antibiotic as well and could possibly fighting a little infection. She did pass a decent amount of poop last night for not having any food, but her crop still had a good size feel to it this...
Update:
I ended up getting a vet appointment for her since I really was hoping to get an xray to see if there was anything abnormal inside of her. Her appointment was yesterday and she spent most of the day there. They did their exam and didn't feel any eggs, or mass inside of her, which is...
Thank you so much for your reply! Yes, I saw that same thing that you're pointing out in photo and it was bedding. When I saw it from a distance I thought worm, but I poked at it and luckily it was just the bedding. They were last dewormed this past spring, so I'll get some Valbazen and do a...
I have a Speckled Sussex hen that is 9 1/2 years old. Yesterday she was totally fine and her typical sassy and "full of it" self. Early that evening, I found her sitting in the nest box, which is odd because she hasn't laid in 3 years and she's been molting though she seems to be towards the end...
I actually gave her dose 1 of the fish mox a few hours ago, so I will continue that for 7-10 days along with giving her some extra calcium for a few days.
I will also be sure to check her crop first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will be back to normal after laying that soft egg.
She...
Thank you! I have the 250mg Fish Mox...so twice a day? I'll get her started on that right away.
After about an 1 1/2 nap, she started making little noises at me and perking up. I gave her a little wet feed and she ate that and got up to wipe her beak clean on the rug. lol
She's strutting...
I have a 6 year old Speckled Sussex hen who yesterday after I was finished with work, I had noticed something was clearly wrong. She had been totally fine and her normal spunky self that morning with a clear crop as well. Looking at her poops and body language, I made the guess that she was...
Thanks for your reply! I do have Corid on hand, so I'll get them all started on that today and I'll also try and get a sample in today/tomorrow. Their coop bedding is totally dry and I do clean up daily in there, so it is pretty clean. Their run is also covered and dry. However, there are other...
I have a Jersey Giant hen that will be 3 years old this May. She had started laying again at the end of January after her molt/winter break, laid for a few weeks and then has stopped now for a few weeks. This past weekend, I started to notice what appeared to look like intestinal shedding in her...
It did! I followed the exact treatment method from @TwoCrows at the beginning of this thread and that was the end of it. My hen eventually molted and grew in pretty feathers in all of her bare spots and her red, irritated skin eventually cleared as well. Best of luck to you!
I was following your thread hoping your girl was going to recover. I'm sorry you lost her.💔 It's never easy and I know how much it hurts. Gertie was lucky to have you.❤️
This is super helpful...thank you! I just checked the website and this is one I looked at originally. Now I wish I would've bought from them in the first place. I don't see the bumble bee one available, so I think I'll just have to guess and hope for the best. Either way, I would think it's got...
Here's Sweet Pea. I just checked her crop and let them out of the coop. You can definitely see her crop here. It was less than what it was when she went to bed, but still full. Do you think it could be pendulous, since this has happened multiple times now?
