When they all joined back up briefly, they were all standing by the pool either swimming or drinking. I haven't seen her eat anything though. I just walked back outside and she has moved a couple feed away, but still sitting.
Well darn. I was feeling better when they joined back up. But now they have left again and she has literally just been sitting and sometimes sleeping in one spot by herself. She's not foraging or anything. Just sitting, for a couple of hours already!
I really appreciate all your information. This is a nice outlet even for me just to wrap my head around what is going on! Later in the day the other 3 came back from the tank and they met back up with her. It's just been unusual seeing them ever seperate. The whole time I've had them, they stick...
I guess at this point, I know for sure that I have (out of the 4 Toulouse), 1 male and at least 1, possibly 2 females based on the number of eggs I got one morning. One time while they were mating in a pool here by the house, I saw the males penis afterwards. So I thought, well I've at least got...
Thank you for all of that info! And the video in that thread was awesome! I checked back and she wasn't on the nest anymore, but had laid an egg. She is now just sitting in one of the pools here by the house, while the other 3 are still down at the tank. I tend to lump all my birds together and...
I just came back outside to check and see if they were together again. I walked to the tank and the 3 of them were together. Then I came back to the coop looking for the other one and found her sitting on that same nest where the chicken eggs were last night (I've already collected them) so now...
Last year I bought 4 Toulouse geese. The man had a trailer full that he had caught to sell. I told him I wanted 3 females and 1 male. He said he couldn't tell by looking at them, but he picked me 3 that had the slightest dip (where feathers were removed) in the back of their head from mating and...
Hi, I have read several things about the genetics with blue laced red wyandottes but still not sure. I'm just hoping someone can give me a quick answer to my question. I have a BLR Wyandotte rooster with my silver laced and golden laced wyandotte hens. I am wondering if crossing the GL hen with...
Well this morning she seems much better (fever seems like it's gone) but still can't walk. I let her swim in the tub for an hour. She paddles around, drinks water, and seems to enjoy it. I emptied the tub again and gave her food and a bowl of water. She went to town eating and drinking, I keep...
Thank you Wyorp rock! And thank you bbchicks123, this sounds a lot like what I have been doing, glad to hear someone else would do the same. I have her inside in my bathtub. I filled up the tub and let her swim a while. She did use her legs and paddle around the tub, and drank water. After she...
I was walking my ducks into their run when I noticed one of my females was laying on the ground with her legs laid out behind her. I picked her up (normally she would never let me just walk up to her and pick her up or even get close enough to touch her) when I was carrying her in I noticed her...
Everyone was right, she did not accept them. She didn't hurt them, but she did not acknowledge them at all. I pulled those chicks and waited a couple weeks (not quite the full 21 days) and put some newly hatched chicks under her. She raised them for quite some time. Good luck with yours!
Ok thank you so much! That completely answered my questions and concerns. I will be out there very early to check, and if she is like she is now (possibly not even knowing they are under her) then i will pull them anyway. Not worth the risk, i would rather keep my babies where I know they are...
No, this would be her second time. And she was an excellent mom last time but I let her sit on eggs and hatch them. I didnt have many chickens then (16, I now have roughly 160) and only 1 roo who wasnt doing his job yet. So I set 12 eggs that I got from some guy. Only 2 hatched, but only 3 had...
Thank you for your help, I was thinking I should just try it. Well as it turns out another one of my hens went broody too! They haven't done this since last year! It's awesome, but not the best time! Anyway, I did go and put 5 of the chick's under her tonight and took the 3 fake eggs out that I...
I've looked for an answer to this question everywhere, all I can find it info on getting your broody hen to adopt chicks. My situation is I have a hen that went broody a day or 2 ago. I always take advantage of the situation and would like her to sit on some eggs. Long story but right now I...
Well I may have a super excited guy, and he does mate with all 6 of his female companions, but I do notice on my female Pekin that she always tents to have ruffled feathers down the back of her head and neck. But its not bad. I haven't really noticed it on the others, but they are darker so...
